Study On The Climate Adaptability Design Strategy Of The Country Park In Subtropical Hot-humid Area

Most of China’s southeast coastal region is subtropical hot-humid climate zone. Whileaccelerating urbanization in these areas, the city‘s ecological imbalance and the negativephenomena of the micro-climate is getting worse and worse. In the same time, with the rapiddevelopment of our economy, more and more people desired to go in the nature. Theoccurrence and development of country parks was the inevitable result of the socialdevelopment and people’s risen level of the spiritual and cultural life. It is not only to promotepeople’s physical and mental health, but also playing an important role in the ecologicalenvironment conservation, water conservation, the natural landscape protection, the citymicro climate regulation, and so on. The construction of country parks would be conducive tobuild the green city and harmonious society, and could promote sustainable development ofthe regional ecological environment. This thesis was primarily a research of the thermalcomfort analysis of outer space micro climate in country parks, which were located in thesubtropical hot-humid climate zone. Base on the site measurement, software simulations,project practice and post occupancy evaluation, the author tried to sum up the country parkclimate adaptation planning and design strategies in the subtropical hot-humid climate zone,which could help to build the subtropical country park planning and design guidelines basingon the climate adaptation in the future. The author mainly focused on the following four partsof work:(1)The measurement study on the thermal environment of the typical cases of countryparks, which are located in the subtropical hot-humid climate zone.This thesis focused on the survey and the site measurement of the country parks‘typicalcases, which were located in the subtropical humid climate zone, mainly on the scope of thePearl River Delta Region. And then four country parks were chosen and their meteorologicaldata were measured in the whole day. Based on the test results of1.5-meter-high point‘s airtemperature, wind speed, humidity and globe temperature in the tourist activity area, theauthor tried to sum up the main characteristics of summer outdoor micro climate of the touristactivity area in the country parks, which were located in the subtropical hot-humid climate zone, and tried to figure out the impacts of the landscape design factors on country parkoutdoor thermal environment. Meanwhile, the meteorological data of the design practicecase--Guangdong Tianlu Lake Country Park was measured the whole daily time in the seasonof spring, summer and autumn in2011, in order to make further study on the maincharacteristics of outdoor micro climate in the country parks‘tourist activity area of thesubtropical humid climate zone in spring summer and autumn, and find out the impacts of thelandscape design factors on country park outdoor thermal environment. This part of work wasthe chapter2contents of this thesis. The related measured results and analysis would be thepreparation for the study of the standard effective temperature (SET) threshold value of theoutside environment thermal comfort, the simulation study on the impacts of the landscapedesign factors on outdoor thermal environment, etc. It would provide the essential basis andsupport case for the generalization and summarization of the climate adaptation planning anddesign strategies.(2)The preliminary study of the standard effective temperature (SET) threshold valueof the outside environment thermal comfort of the country parks in subtropical hot-humidarea.Based on the site measurement of the subtropical country parks‘typical cases and thequestionnaire of the thermal comfort, the author calculates each survey point‘s standardeffective temperature (SET)and analyses the questionnaire survey result, in order topreliminary study the outside environment thermal comfort threshold value during spring,summer and autumn in the country parks‘tourist activity area of the subtropical humidclimate zone. Then the paper was used the vote percentage of thermal comfort curve fitting toverify each season‘s outside environment thermal comfort threshold value in the countryparks, and compared the thermal comfort threshold value of each season‘s both in artificialand natural environment, what‘s more, preliminary study of the thermal comfort range of thespring, summer and autumn three seasons. This part was chapter3of this thesis, its initialresults are prepared for the controlled study with simulation test of the relevant landscapedesign factors that impact the outdoor thermal environment.(3)The simulation study on the impacts of the landscape design factors on outdoorthermal environment based on the ENVI-met software. This part is based on the thermal environment measurement from the typical cases ofsubtropical hot-humid climate country parks and the standard effective temperature (SET)threshold value of the outside environment thermal comfort, by using the ENVI-met softwareand combining the country parks‘tourist activity area ideal model, to study on the simulationof the relevant landscape design factors that impact the outdoor thermal environment. Firstly,the author established the test model of the east gate entrance area in Guangdong Tianlu LakeCountry Park, and simulate the spring, summer and autumn experiment respectively; and thencompared and discussed the data of the site measurement with the software simulations.Secondly, based on the data analysis of the cases, the author had established the country parks‘tourist activity area ideal model. This thesis had made the simulated experiments fromthe ideal model of the thermal buffer belt design threshold, the grassland, the trees and thewater in different sizes effect on the microclimate, etc. So that each measure point‘s SET ofthe ideal model can be calculated. Combining the standard effective temperature (SET)threshold value of the outside environment thermal comfort, which is proposed by the thirdchapter, the author comparatively studied the simulated point‘s SET and the SET thresholdvalue, and tried to put forward the key guiding control index of the thermal buffer belt, whichwas the key landscape design factor. This part was the chapter4of this paper, the simulationresults were prepared for summing up the country park climate adaptation planning anddesign strategies in the subtropical hot-humid climate zone, which is based on the climateadaptability.(4)Sum up the country park climate adaptation planning and design strategies in thesubtropical hot-humid climate zone, and reviewed the landscape practice cases which wereapplied the climate adaptation planning and design strategies.The important basic concepts of country park planning and designis restoration, protection and rational utilization. Combined with the study of thesubtropical country park outside environment thermal comfort index and thekey design guiding and control index, under the guidance of the comfort, safety and healthwhich were the planning design goal and basic principles, the author tried to put forward fourstrategies which are based on the climate adaptability design of the subtropical humid countryparks. The four strategies were:1) the strategy in putting forward the thermal buffer belt;2) the strategy in the utilization of the adumbral system;3) the strategy in improving thespace ventilation;4) the strategy in passive evaporative cooling. Based on elaborating therelated design strategies, combined with the case studies of the country parks, the paperelaborated the main point of climate adaptation planning and design strategies in the countryparks design. And then combined with the landscape design practice case in recent year(ssuchas the main entrance area landscape design of the Guangdong Tianlu Lake Country Park; thelandscape planning and design of Tingyin Lake scenic spot in Xiqiao, Foshan;the landscapeplanning and design of Bird Paradise Wetland Park in Xinhui, Jiangmen; tshe low-carboneco-city construction guideline of the Dongping new town in Foshan; etc.), this thesis furtherdiscussed the utilization of six strategies which are based on the climate adaptability design ofthe subtropical hot-humid country parks in the specific project. In particular, in thelow-carbon eco-city construction guideline of the Dongping new town in Foshan, the authorput forward the landscape design control index of Dongping new town, Foshan, and tries toput forward Foshan Green Factor Evaluation System (FGF). This part was the chapter5ofthis thesis.The results of this thesis could be directly guiding the planning and design of thesubtropical humid country parks; it would be an important supplement to the theory of climateadaptability design in subtropical humid area; it would be a complement of the study ofoutdoor thermal environment in subtropical city; it would be a complement of the applicationof simulation software ENVI-met. And it would be the core of the follow-up research which isabout the planning and design guidelines of the subtropical hot-humid country parks. Last butnot least, the basic database which was established during this study could be a solidfoundation for the further research.
