With the development of urbanization and the emergence of urban environmental and climatic problems in China,the study of outdoor thermal comfort in different scales of urban space is attracting more and more attention from the whole society.In the south hot-humid areas of China,the number of commercial complexes is huge and is developing rapidly because of the developed economy and dense population.People's demands for designing of commercial complexes are now not limited to their basic functions,but put forward higher requirements for the comfort and health quality of outdoor space environment.Commercial complex building design should not only consider the rationality of the building function and the aesthetics of the building form,but also the climate adaptability of the building outdoor environment and the environmental quality of the building outdoor as well as users' comfort.Therefore,it would lead to significant economic and social benefits to carry out research on the outdoor thermal environment of commercial complex's plaza,especially in hot and humid areas.These research includs but not limited to improving the outdoor thermal environment of commercial complex to meet the thermal comfort and psychological demand of citizens' activities and improving the utilization rate of outdoor space.In view of the above problems,this study was conducted in Guangzhou city,which is a typical area of hot and humid,and selects three typical outdoor plaza environments of commercial complexes as the research object.Firstly,thermal environment testing,questionnaire survey and interview records were carried out in three seasons(summer,autumn and winter)to investigate the thermal environment level,thermal comfort and users' demands of different outdoor squares.Then,the data were analyzed and evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively by using software such as SPSS and EXCEL.Then,Ray Man software and outdoor thermal environment evaluation index were used to study the relationship between PET and human thermal response through regression analysis,and the obtained results and range were compared with the characteristics of outdoor square environment.Finally,three different types of outdoor environment design strategies were compared and contrasted systematically,the influence and its causes of different environmental factors on human thermal comfort were analyzed,the favorable design strategies for commercial complex outdoor environment in southern humid areas were concluded.All in all,this paper proposed a workable direction of optimizing the design of commercial complex outdoor thermal environment and optimize the design for summer and winter,so as to build a confortable and green building environment for citizens,which would conducively increase the sustainable development of commercial complex buildings.
