The Car Styling Design Method Based On Evolutionary Thought

Car styling design is a Design disciplines possess scientific and humanistic attributes at the same time. Similarly, Evolutionary thought is also a way to explain the truth of creation science and Humanity. There are also evolutionary phenomenon exist in the car styling development process. Therefore, we can consider there is some natural and intrinsically linked exists between the car design and the evolutionary thought. Based on the above, this article attempts to explain and guide the car design activities with evolutionary thought, organizes car design rules, Forms an car design methods can be used to guide the design practice. Aims to promote the design method and methodology development, Trying to unify the "seeking to knowledge" and the "seeking to use" in design research.The title of this paper is "The car styling design method based on evolutionary thought." The main meaning is:(1) on research idea: First, the evolution of car styling like biological evolution, Evolution is the guide law of the evolution of the car styling. Secondly, natural sciences and humanities coexist in design study. However, the ambiguity of the car design is not unknown, but based on the apparent divergence. It can generate solid design only based on understanding and following the internal operating mechanism of styling, Leave certain design space to styling, and guide it.(2) On research areas and objects, "car styling" is the entity object,research areas and content of this paper. "Evolution" is the point,arguments, derivation and algorithm to construct theoretical foundation and research priorities of this article. "Design method" is the proposed algorithm based on evolutionary thought and design process of this article, including patients and validation count. Evolutionary design methods studied in this paper focuses on the the relationship of the evolution phenomenon and the design parameters of car styling.Mainly related to parametric gene model of car styling, evolutionary design space, credible evaluation, evolutionary computation and evolutionary design process and so on.This study based on the National Key Basic Research and Development Project and the National Natural Science Foundation of China funded research projects, put the car design method as the object of study, guided by Evolutionary thought, focus on design innovation and solving theoretical problems, form for car design-Features- gene mapping, Proposed the parametric gene model of car styling. After that,we We put the car design rules and evaluation methods as the object of study, forming a parametric quantitative car design rules called "design space" theory. And a experience credible evaluation method about experience and credibility. Ultimately, we use evolutionary algorithms to organize these methods and theories to form an car design method based on evolutionary thought,And apply it to the car computer-aided design practice,achieved good results.The specific content of the study, methods and results include:First, We discuss the relationship and characteristics between the design and the evolution with similar backgrounds. By the analysis of the significance of design research, evolutionary thought, car design solving mechanism and car styling evolutionary phenomenon of, Final conclusion can be obtained that car design activities can be explained and guided by evolutionary thought.Second, We establish the car styling parametric gene model. This models have two mainly effects, the first is the car styling is composed by the parametric modeling gene, the second is gene is the origin of the shape, we can learn the deepest shape rules by understanding the genetic. Ultimately, we combine the characteristics of car styling, establish a genetic parametric model of car styling by studying the cognitive modeling of form- Features- gene mapping methods. Car styling parametric model is the basis of genetic evolution methods of car design.In spite of the biomorphic and the car styling are changeable, Evolutionary direction and basic structure of the same species have followed a certain design rules,We can consider these design rules formed a system like “ core design rules.” This system like a space with fuzzy boundaries which can nurture new design. We call such rules knowledge aggregate "design space". This paper focuses on the definition and extraction method of spatial knowledge of car design to guide the evolution and development of the design to generate new individuals.Fourth, based on the experience and credibility research, This paper presents a multi-role and multi-attribute car styling evaluation methods. This method selects designers and user roles, Studies the evaluate factors of the experience Perspective and the credible evaluation design problem as the second layer problem, builds a credible evaluation model. The model focus on the "physical state" and the "mentality" of the parametric evaluation of design individual, answered the multi-design evaluation questions from cognitive, emotional, behavioral, credible and other dimensions. This method can be used as an individual fitness evaluation method for evolutionary design method.Finally, based on the aforementioned research, we use the evolutionary computation methods as the core mechanism to organize the aforementioned study to constitute a car styling evolutionary design method. Due to the particularity of car design, this method is different from the traditional evolution Method in the restraint mechanism, evaluation mechanism, iterative suspension mechanisms. Finally, we use this method to guide the design practice which verifies the reliability and availability of evolutionary design method, and put forward the corresponding reflection.In this paper, we aim at design approach systematic problems, design knowledge quantitative issues, design rule fuzzy problems, scientific evaluation or appraisal costly problems and designer- user credible issue and other issues which prevalent in car styling from the relative macro perspective, under the guidance of evolutionary thought, build a kind of car design method which is mainly composed of "evolutionary computing", "genetic model", "design space" and "credible evaluation experience" as the content, and eventually guided the design practice, verify the accuracy and reliability of the method. Theory and practical application show that the car styling design method based on evolutionary thought can assist designers to complete preliminary design and design thinking organization characterized effectively, can stimulate creative concept of designer, has important reference value for the formation of artificial intelligence-aided design and design ecosystem.
