[Abstract] Cupping is a common optic disc morphological change in ophthalmological clinic, which can occur in a variety of physiological or or pathological subjects. Studies have shown that the "cuppings" have different morphological features for identification, the most typical cases are physiologic large cup and glaucoma, however the insult mechanisms are still not clear. Currently, several instruments are available for quantitative detection of optic disc, meanwhile multiple new parameters are proposed. Now the anatomy, clinical examinations and the characteristics of cupping in various situations are reviewed. |
