ObjectiveInfluenza is a acute respiratory infection which was a serious threat to human health. Because the virus is susceptible to mutation, it is difficult to predict when and what kind of virus and its subtypes would cause the population accurately. Because influenza virus is easy to be resistance to the anti-flu drugs, coupled with the development of vaccines always behind the occurrence of the disease. Those problems have puzzled the medical profession for along time. With the states paying more attention to influenza in recent years; they invested heavily in the prevention, control and the exploitation of drug and vaccine for influenza. At the same time, promoting and encouraging Traditional Chinese Medicine playing the important role in preventing and controlling in Exogenous Heat disease, it also be contributed to find some drugs with significant effect and low resistance to influenza from the treasure-house of the motherland medicine.QiangYinJieRe decoction is based on the awareness of exogenous Heat disease in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The prescription is used for treating the common cold, influenza and other viral upper respiratory tract infection. QiangYinJieRe decoction is consisted of ten Chinese medicines according to the characteristics of the viral infection of upper respiratory tract disease in the Lingnan area, combined with the therapeutic perspectives of doctors from different dynasties and the clinical experience of our experts. QiangYingJieRe decoction consisted of cold and heat herbs are applicable to all syndromes of influenza and other viral upper respiratory tract infection disease, the curative effect is obvious, and it is convenient for use. This paper is based on the existing research results, through the clinical observation and experimental study to research the effect and its mechanism for influenza treatment from different points of view, such as killing and inhibiting the virus replication, the regulation of Cytokines, Avoid from Oxidative damage and regulated the immune.Method1. Through retrospective analysis and statistic for the clinical characteristics and treatment of the outpatient with acute upper respiratory tract infection from the Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine which attached to Guangdong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The date of record in document is from January1,2004to July30,2011. By this study, we can know about the symptoms and syndrome differentiation of influenza, and the choice of patients’treatment in Zhongshan city.2. Using the antifebrile effect and the clinical symptom improvement as the evaluation index, we research the effect of treatment in upper respiratory tract infection by QiangYingJieRe decoction.3. Observing the change of CD3+, CD4+, CD8+T in patients used QiangYingJieRe decoction, in order to research the regulation of influenza patients’immune level by QiangYingJieRe decoction.4. Based on MDCK cells which infected influenza virus, using the hemagglutination test to research the effect of prevention, therapeutic, and direct killing virus for influenza by QiangYingJieRe decoction.5. Studing the therapeutic effect of QiangYingJieRe decoction on influenza pneumonia by influenza mouse lung index and pulmonary pathological changes.6. Observing the protection of QiangYingJieRe decoction to flu mice.7. Analyzing the change of inflammation cytokine, such as IFN-a, TNF-a and IL-10in flu mice to study the effects of QiangYingJieRe decoction in influenza mouse.8. Using ELISA assay to measure the change of SOD and MDA in flu mice’s serum, in order to observe the protection effect of QiangYingJieRe decoction for oxidative injury in flu mice which caused by influenza virus.Results1.The results of the study "The retrospective analysis for clinical feature and treatment of upper respiratory tract infection in Zhongshan city" shows that the common symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection in zhongshan City is sore throat or pharynx itch, fever, cough, the head and body pain, runny nose, tonsillar intumescence and Aversion to cold. In the Syndromes of TCM, wind-heat attack skin is more common than wind-cold attack skin and mixed hot and cold attacks skin. Half of patients may present with wet syndrome. Floating and fast pulse is more frequently, floating and sliding pulse, floating and tension pulse is less than that. The tongue fur of flu patients is thin and yellow, creamy, thin and white is common, too. The majority of patients with normal white blood cells, a few may be higher or lower. Most patients would prefer combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment, followed by the choice of Traditional Chinese Medicine, western medicine treatment less the two choices.2. The results of the study "The retrospective analysis for the treatment of QiangYingJieRe decoction in acute upper respiratory tract infection" shows that the effect of QiangYingJieRe decoction in acute upper respiratory tract infection is obviously superior to the Riyebaifuning (p<0.05). In the treatment within24h and48h, the QiangYingJieRe decoction antipyretic effect is obviously superior than the Riyebaifuning (p<0.05). In the comparison of curative effect, the cure rate and effective rate of QiangYingJieRe decoction group were higher than Bufferin, YinQiaoSan group, Jingfangbaidusan(p<0.05).3. The results of study "The effect of QiangYingJieRe decoction for T cell level in flu patients" show that QiangYingJieRe decoction can significantly improving the CD3+, CD4+, CD8+T cell levels in the flu patients, it’s effect is obviously superior than the Bufferin cold(p<0.05).4.The results of study "The vitro study of a QiangYingJieRe decoction anti-flu" shows that QiangYingJieRe decoction can reduce the virulence of influenza virus, inhibit its replication, thus played a significant role in prevention and treatment of influenza.5.The results of the study "The effect of QiangYingJieRe decoction in inhibiting influenza virus pneumonia and the pathological changes of lung tissue in A type flu mice" shows that the QiangYingJieRe decoction in high dose can significantly reduce influenza mouse lung index, it’s effect is obviously better than YinQiaoSan and JiangFang-BaiDuSan(P<0.05). Histopathology shows that QiangYingJieRe decoction can significantly reduce lung injury which caused by influenza virus. The curative effect is positive correlation to the dose of prescription.6.The results of study "The death protection of A type flu mice by QiangYingJieRe decoction " shows that the QiangYingJieRe decoction can significantly decrease the mortality rate of A type flu mice.7. The results of study "The effect of QiangYingJieRe decoction in changing the IFN-a, TNF-a and IL-10leves in type A mice’s serum" shows that QiangYingJieRe decoction can significantly decrease the IFN-a level, inhibit TNF-a production and promote the secretion of IL-10in the body (P<0.05). 8. The results of study "The effect of QiangYingJieRe decoction to the change of SOD and MDA in A type mice’s serum" shows that QiangYingJieRe decoction can enhance the SOD activity and decrease the content of MDA (P<0.05), especially the large doses of QiangYingJieRe decoction (P<0.01).ConclusionThe QiangYingJieRe decoction has exact curative effects in the treatment of influenza; its mechanism of action includes the following aspects.1. QiangYingJieRe decoction can improving the CD3+, CD4+, CD8+T cell levels in the flu patients, and enhance Enhance immune function to clear virus.2. QiangYingJieRe decoction can directly killing the flu virus, inhibiting the replication and relieving the oxidative damage of tissue which caused by influenza virus.3. Reducing the inflammatory response and protecting the tissues and organs of the body with influenza.4. Regulating the immune system and stimulating the antiviral ability for the body with influenza.In summary, QiangYingJieRe decoction can regulate the body non-speci fic and specific cellular immune function, enhance the ability ofthe bod y anti-virus, and play a rolein thetreatment of influenza.The component of QiangYingJieRe decoction is diverse, it’s mechanism of anti-flu are more complex. There are many inadequacies in this experime nt. Perfecting the study of mechanism of QiangYingJieRe decoction in anti-flu would be contributed to provide scientific basis.
