Based on the specific historical background and cultural environments during the periods of the Han and Wei&Jin dynasties, the thesis sets out to provide a panoramic description and reviewing on the criticism of Chu-Ci, as well as inspecting the development of Chu-Ci criticism in different historical stages during those periods. Such theories as Reception Aesthetics are attempted. On the basis of analyzing individual critics’stance and their literacy concepts, the thesis sorts through and justify the major achievements and features of Chu-Ci criticisms in each of the dynasties and elaborate further on the interaction between the criticism of Chu-Ci and the Zeitgeist. By so doing, an understanding of the overall cultural outlooks and unique poetic spirits of the dynasties is reached. The thesis consists of two parts. The first part centers on the criticism of Chu-Ci in the Han Dynasty. By profiling the general situations concerning the Chu-Ci criticism in the period, it proceeds from three major types of criticism. This part of thesis not only unveils the attitudes and ideologies assumed by the typical writers of the three types, but also demonstrates the trajectory of ideological&cultural development as well as changes of literati spirits in the era. In the end, this part summarizes the general features of Chu-Ci criticism in the two Han Dynasties. The second part of the thesis focuses on the criticism of Chu-Ci during the period of the Wei, Jin, Northern&Southern Dynasties. It chooses the most representative critics’works for careful analyses, which opens up a view on literature standard. As a summary, it grasps macroscopically the new features of "Literacy Self-Conscious" in the era of Chu-Ci criticism, thus shedding light on more levels of value and significance in the Chu-ci criticism.
