Because jade wares from Eastern Han Dynasty to Sui Dynasty spread widely around China, and because jade wares found in tombs in different periods are very complicated, the author thinks it is prudent to first classify all jade wares into different areas, then use typology to divide jade wares into different types, later put them into different phases. In the end, the author deduces the times of those jade wares that can not be put into already classified phases by comparing those with the already determined ones.Rarely does a jade ware bears with it year or character, and earlier relics often found in tombs of later period makes it more difficult to determine the times of jade ware. However, it is a popular methodology for archaeologists to use other relics, such as pottery, bronze mirror, coin, found along with jade wares within one tomb to determine the times of jade wares. This paper uses the same method, while excludes disputed jade wares, to study jade wares from Eastern Han Dynasty to Sui Dynasty.
