Natsume Soseki (1867-1916) lived in Japan during the transitional period from feudal society tocapitalist society, and his life course was almost synchronous with the Meiji period. Modern newwoman is representative of the period of people with a new outlook on life and new values intransitional period, including the courage to get rid of the feudal concept. In this paper, we mainlyresearch the identity construction method of the modern new female in Soseki’s novel duringdifferent typical periods, including research nami, fujio in early works "grass pillow" and "cornpoppy grass", mineko in medium-term works "Sanshiro" and onobu in later works "Meian" fromSoseki’s career of literary. In this paper, the characteristic and causes of identity construction forfour modern new female is given. This paper is mainly related to three aspects. Firstly, discussingthe construction method of the modern new woman, and thus reveal the identity of the character,on this basis, to explore the ideology behind this construction method. Secondly, summing up theoverall connotation and construction of identity for modern new female in Soseki’s novels. At last, thinking the overall substantive issues of ideology, including Soseki’s attitude towards“modernity”, and revealed the formation of the fundamental reason for construction method andcharacter’s connotation. This paper is composed of three parts, including introduction, content and conclusion. Thecontent contains Chapter I to Chapter VI. The introduction summarized Research Status of Chinaand Japan which related to Soseki’s novels in modern new women, and analyzed questions to bedeveloped for explaining the contents, methods and paths of this paper. In the first chapter, this paper discuss coveryed construction of nami’s identity using narrativetheory in "grass pillow", and study the construction features of the early form with modern femaleidentity in the space of artistic thinking. On this basis, to explore the interrelation between the"self" of modern new woman and the concept of "non-human kindness aesthetics" in thispaper.nami’s identity was constructed in the art of thinking in the “grass pillow” with the firstperson’s perspective, and description of the personae’s inner world was ignored to become anesthetic object. Also, nami was constructed in the thought of fantasy, showing the objective andmystery features in narrative mode. So that the “se nami’s "self" and construction of her identitywas covered. Moreover, nami’s "self" at the end of the paper was altered by "non-human kindness aesthetics", and these shown that the critical views of author toward modern new woman. The second chapter discussed distorted identity construction of modern new female in thedramatic novel "corn poppy grass", to explore the impact of the dramatic novel factor towardfujio’s identity, and analysed his distorted identity. Finally, from an ideological level, to discussedthe interrelation between the “self” of modern new woman and the concept of "morality" in thispaper. Obviously, the novel "corn poppy grass" had dramatic characteristics, which made fujiobecome the focus of the various contradictions in this novle, and become the narrative characterwhich can enhance conflicting functional of this novel. Because of her obscured emotion, thispersonae identity as a modern new woman shown dramatic characteristics. Moreover, the dualimagery of fujio’s death contained author’s attitude, and shown oppositional relationship between"morality" and “self” of modern new woman..The third chapter discussed mineko’s external construction in "Sanshiro" using boundedperspective and total bounded perspective with the third person’s view, and analyzed theinterrelation between this narrative point of view with mineko’s identity. So the externalconstruction of mineko as a modern new woman was shown, such as the fine movements of"gaze" and fuzzy language. This external character means the disintegrated self. Finally, this paperresearched construction feature behind the ideological cause, namely the relationship between theperformance of modern anxiety and modern new women herself. The portraits "Forest Girl" alsoimplied in modern new woman disillusioned imagery, which is the modern plight of theperformance of the new female identity. In the fourth chapter, the deep construction of modern new female identity was analysed withdual-gender perspective in "Meian", and to explore the deep nature of the modern new femaleidentity, which as binary opposition. Finally, the relationship between the subject of this paper"sokuten kyoshi” with “self”of the modern new woman was discussed. With the femaleperspective in "Meian", we using the “introspective” narrative form to show the selfreconstruction of onobu, which in contrast with the state of the subjective consciousness of thehero in the paper. Dual perspective is constructed female discourse, showing poetic, reflective, andharmonious characteristics. At the same time, with the male perspective, the onobu’s extension"technique" of temperament, construction of which shown the limitations of the male perspective. Thus, making the extension of onobu’s identity presented as a binary opposition."sokuten kyoshi”in the text of the mood, this ideology is the concept of spiritual salvation in his later yearsto pursue for Soseki, and shown the relationship of ideology between “self” and “his”. Onobu’s“self” in "Meian" is in the universality of the existence of "modern" self-context, and showing theidentity of outlook on life for the "no","calm" sense. In the fifth chapter, we summarized of the connotations of the modern new female identity inthe novels of Soseki, and to explore the construction of female identity trajectory. Firstly, thesewomen identity connotations in the following three aspects. First of all, the modern "self" featureswere embodied in the modern Japanese cultural context, showing the fracture between the"modern" and "traditional". Secondly, the intellectual temperament, sometimes show the poeticinsights, and such a temperament in the text with the traditional women constitute a binaryopposition context. In addition, the performance of women in the male perspective was shown"mysterious" identity, and also accompanied by a male opposition ambivalence of longing andfear of the new female. The track of male identity construction of Soseki novels can be summedup as "the objectification of relative principal", and "virtualization to the relative realism" processof change. From the text narrative level, these changes in the trajectory and the correspondingrelationship exists between the person narrative perspective and the author’s literary attitude. In the sixth chapter, we discusses the implicit ideology reason behind the construction offeatures of these new female identity, and summed up the relationship between modern newwoman "self" and the modernity. Self of modern new woman in Soseki’s novel is a performanceof "modernity". The track of these new female identity construction changes in posture andSoseki’s attitude position can be said as construction characteristics of Soseki’s modern criticism, anxiety, and to explore this change in thinking processThe conclusion summarized the correlation between Soseki novels of modern female identityconstruction and the characteristics of the text from the overall perspective, and explores the linkbetween the attitude of "modernity" as an ideological level position with the modern femaleidentity construction. This shows the the Soseki still had difficulty to get rid of the shackles of ahigher level of something beyond the self-desire ultimately, and keep a distance for "modernity".So these novels had some limitations for the identity of modern new woman, which also showingthe limitations of the temperament construction of the male perspective.
