| The study of feminine beauty is an important subject of the aesthetic appreciation of humanity. This paper, based on the relationship of "love" and "beauty", explores the typical form of feminine beauty from the perspective of "intimate relationship".Intimate relationship between male and female, characterized by love and privacy, involves the origin of aesthetics. There is a complicated psychological process from the beautiful image to the real perception of beauty. This paper tries to explore this process by thoroughly examining how a man feels when he appreciates a woman during the formation of the role a woman plays in a man’s eyes.The body of this paper includes four chapters.Chapter one, feminine beauty found in a lover.This chapter chiefly discusses beauty of love found in a woman by comparing the traditionally different concepts of love between the east and the west. Westerners are usually more passionate about love, and they believe love has something to do with spirit and consider it of high spiritual value; while Chinese tend to suppose that love is gentler, and relates to morals; they emphasize less the spiritual aspects in love, for one needs to restrain his or her emotion towards love. Modern love focuses on the combination of body and soul, as well as on equality and liberation, thus, love and beauty are unified, and two kinds of affections derive from the external and internal beauty of a woman, namely love at first sight and excite love in the course of time. Sexual desire plays a great part in a man’s appreciation of a woman, so eventually the sense of beauty will go beyond pure sex because of humanity. According to Beauvoir’s theory, we can find that the beauty of a woman is shaped by her own charm, self cultivation as well as her feelings about the intimate relationship, and the resultant force of society, history and culture also has enormous influence on appreciation of a female. Butler believes that there has never been distinction between natural and social genders, which led to the disintegration of the boundary of male and feminine beauty.Chapter two, feminine beauty found in a mother.Maternal love is often endowed with philosophical and religious meanings. It is loving, selfless and gives unconditional gentle love to weak lives. Maternal love is not only great but also has its beauty of elegance. However, it may also change to the indulgent love of taking control of her son. Such love will do great harm to female humanity, and the distortion of maternal beauty has a complicated historical and cultural contents.Chapter three, feminine beauty in sister-and-brother relationship. Love between brothers and sisters is based on the intimate relationship of the same generation. It includes the appreciation and love towards the opposite sex. And this kind of love can rise from the simple sexual desire to the true love due to the kinship. That there is no desire in such love is just an illusion, under which often hides the real desire of incest.Chapter four, feminine beauty in daughter-and-father relationship.Father’s love towards daughter originates from the genetic relationship between them. It shows the memory in his youth and implies the love between male and female. The beauty of a daughter is a free, direct, tender one with the passing of time.Intimate relationship should also be built within strangers, beyond kinship, acting as the bond between all humans, and even beyond human to all creatures, for everything in the universe should have that intimate relationship connected to human. Therefore, the highest aesthetic state can be achieved. |
