The Study Of Poetry Test System In Tang Dvnasty

The system of poetry test is a mechanism of selecting personnel and officials established by Tang Dynasty rulers in specific historical circumstances and based on the actual needs. As an important part of the Wende politics, the system of poetry test had an influence on many aspects of the Tang Dynasty society. Previous studies, or limited its content in Jinshi poetry test, or limited in the judgment of exam-oriented style having little value, and were lack of the integrity of research on the system of poetry test in Tang Dynasty. This paper tried to study the poetry test as an independent object, through the basic method of combining literature and history to find its origins, the basic appearance, the style characteristics and the effects upon the full range of inspection, and finally tried to get some of my awareness in the following four areas:Firstly, the analysis of the time and cause that the poetry test produced in the Tang Dynasty. The phenomenon of test poetry was not only presented in Jinshi, but also widely existed in the other kinds of personnel and officials selection examinations. In the broad terms of the imperial examination, the principles of poetry test to select officials was originally emerged in the examination of the board of civil service officials, which was subsequently introduced in the other examinations. Anchored, we found the time that the poetry test produced was sooner than we previously thought. Also, as the most representative examination system in the Tang Dynasty, the system of poetry test contained a far-reaching and broad historical and cultural picture.Secondly, describing the system of poetry test. After inspection, we found that the Tang Dynasty set up a complete poetry test institutional system, which took the Jinshi test poetry as the basis, the board of civil service (including the Bo Xue Hong Ci) poetry test as the improvement, the Zhi Ju poetry test as the complement, and the Han Lin Yuan poetry test as the end. It was a three-dimensional and comprehensive mechanism to cultivate, select, appoint, and promote literary talent. This system included the different levels of examinations, for example, the local-central examination, Xie examination-Sheng examination-Dian examination, etc. It also included the different steps of examinations, for example, the preliminary examination-review-retest (Bie Tou Shi), etc. It showed the systematic features. The new understanding of the system of poetry test was obtained after we expanded our vision to the broad terms of imperial examination.Thirdly, setting up the evaluation standard of exam-oriented style. The creative environment, creative mechanisms and norms of exam-oriented poetry were different from ordinary writing poetry, and the style of exam-oriented poetry was also different from ordinary literary works. So it was unsuitable for us to evaluate the exam-oriented style using the standard for the ordinary literary works. Through analyzing the intention of inventing the examination question, institutional norms and systems characteristics, we tried to establish a new evaluation system of exam-oriented style. In this system, the work was no longer judged by their aesthetic nature and lyricism characteristic, more important, it depended on if its content and form were in line with the political context, contributed to moral values, and helped to build the Wende politics in the end.Last, the study on the relationship between the system of poetry test and the society, politics, literary in Tang Dynasty. The system of test poetry was produced in specific historical circumstances, and through "the person ruled by the system" to impact the society, politics, literary in Tang dynasty. There was an interactive relationship between the system of poetry test and the environment. Through study the characteristics of the intellectuals’spiritual, psychological status, knowledge structure and the ways of thinking in Tang Dynasty, we wanted to explore the effect and impact that the system of poetry test produced in the process of setting up the "Tang Dynasty Poetry Society’", applying Wende politics policy and the Tang poem characteristic coming into being.
