In this article, I am trying to answer three questions through the study of inner-painting. First, what skills does inner-painting need, and how to obtain these skills. Second, how do the inner-painters practice in everyday life, including their lives, their beliefs, and what is the connection between their artistic practice and religious practice. Finally, in the age of technology, what impacts do inner-painting and inner-painter suffer, and what problems created. In the introduction, I describe the cause of my selecting inner-painting as a doctoral thesis, and introduce my field——Hengshui. In addition, I also described the research framework and research methods in this article, and explained the steps and the process of entering the field. In the first chapter, I have a overview on snuff and snuff bottles, and explore the origin legend of the inner-painting, the relationship of the inner-painting and the concept of relativism space of Chinese tradition, the relationship between inner-painted snuff bottles and the myth of "wonderland in bottle", and the relationship of the inner-painting and the favorite on glass. In the second chapter, I describe the process of my participant observation in the field, and experience the techniques of inner-painting. In this chapter, I discuss the relationship between art and technology. I try to point out that the biggest difference between art and technology depends on the height of the spirit of the practitioners. If a practitioner reaches the "meditation" and "concentration", and achieves a state of ecstasy, he will be able to reach the highest realm of art that Hsu Fu-kuan said "the contemplation of beauty", in this care, the subject and the object become of a harmonious unity, so it will achieve a high aesthetic level. From technology to art, it relies on "meditation" and "concentration".In the third chapter of this article, I describe the daily lives of the painters. In everyday life, the most important work of painters is painting, in addition, they will be visiting the antique market. Selecting a master is a very important part in the lives of the painters,.In this article, I also reveal some of the problems that exist within the painting field. First, the young painters are impetuous than the older generation generally, appearing a lot of shoddy products on the market now. Many painters eager to profit from the low-priced products in the case of low craft level. Many painters do not pursuit of perfection of the works, but of short-term interests, and thus become a worker but not a artist. Second, recently it appears a phenomenon of using photographic technology to act as a hand-drawn. The popularity of the mechanical technology improves production efficiency, but it also deepens the dependent of mechanical technology, thus causing painters slacking the improvement of their own craft.so inexpensive low-level inner-painting products appear in a large number, and to some extent it disturbs the normal market order. Because of neglecting the improvement of their craft, and relying on technology, the trend of reduced to workers from artists is more obvious. Third, from my observation, many young students lax increasingly when learning painting skills, such as tardiness, addiction to the Internet and mobile phones, listening to music when painting. It is not the performance of meditation and concentration. The reason partly is the age of information technology, and mobile phones and computers are widespread. The young painters are increasingly influenced by external entertainment and that is so easy to get, so the learning of art is undisciplined. In the fourth chapter, through the description of the religious life of the artist, I pointed the popular of religion among the inner-painters, and the similarity of religious practice and art practice, that both of them needs "meditation" and "concentration". And artists and religionists have common targets. The goal of the artist is artifying the art object, and the religionists is artifying the whole life. They are in common. The artifying of object and the artifying of life can be mutually reinforcing. A senior artist, will inevitably turn to the pursuit of the artifying of their own lives, and a truly liberated individual, is bound to have art mood. However, the article also pointed out that in matters of faith, as opposed to the older generation of painters, many young painters showed more and more indifferent and estrangement. As the coming of technology era, similar with art, religion is in decline. As Scheler said, in traditional oriental world, the ideal personality mold is "saints", and now is "worker", a worker is a mortal man. A lot of people no longer want to become saints, but satisfied as a mortal. In this context, having faith seems to be a kind of fault, people are forced to hide their faith. In the conclusion of this paper, I try to point out,"meditation" and "concentration" are both local concept that needed to pay close attention to. In addition, the artirying of life, is also noteworthy concept.Secondly, through description of the daily lives of the painters and their faith world, I also discuss the influence of modern technology on the group of painters. In modern social history, not only art but also religion, showing a worrying decline. Technology and populism ultimately harm our knowledge and the people, which must arouse the vigilance of anthropologists and sociologists!...
