Chapter One defined the spatial and temporal scopes of this study, reviewed theprevious archaeological discoveries and research findings, raised the problems to besolved in the research, and described the purpose and the methods of this study.Chapter Two conducted cultural identification and chronological study on theNeolithic relics unearthed in the middle reaches of the Han River. Through research,11different categories of archaeological cultures and relics were identified, such asKengnan remains, Peiligang remains, Laoguantai culture relics, Zhujiatai culture, etc..Started with the categorization and staging of the relic remains, a chronological and anarchaeometrical study were respectively conducted on the11cultural types. Eventually,the paper established a chronological sequence of Neolithic culture in the middlereaches of the Han River, and divided the Neolithic culture of this region into17stagesof development.Chapter Three discussed the process of Neolithic culture in four adjacent regionsto the middle reaches of the Han River, i.e. West and Middle of Henan, SouthwestShanxi, the south and north of Qinling Mountains, and east of Han River. This chapteralso identified the corresponding relationship between the Neolithic culture of the fourregions with the middle reaches of the Han River in17stages, and established a spatialand temporal framework of Neolithic culture in the middle reaches of the Han Riverand its adjacent regions.On the basis of the Neolithic cultural framework of the five regions, Chapter Fourdiscussed the origins of Neolithic culture in the middle reaches of the Han River, andthe cultural interaction of which with the neighboring areas during different stages.Chapter Five summarized the findings of the thesis, and pointed out the problemsexisted in this article.
