The Huai River spans most of the four provinces-Jiangsu,Shandong,Henan and Anhui, and it covers 270,000 square kilometers area.It is an important area for the development of prehistoric culture and civilization in China. At the same time,it is also located in the cultural meeting point from different directions, where the feature of prehistoric culture is complex. However,Most of the archaeological research has been decomposed into the study of the Central Plain,Haidai area and the Yangtze River, and it is still lack of integrated and systematic research, especially still lack of deeply research of the cultural pattern. Therefore, this paper is an attempt to study the cultural pattern of sub-period and sub-district communities. The paper is divided into eight parts.1.Introduction:It introduces the reasons for choosing the topic, research theory and methods, and the spatial-temporal range and geographical environment of the Huai River briefly.2.Chapter1:The Neolithic archaeological history of Huai River.A brief introduction of Neolithic archeological discovery in the four provinces--Jiangsu,Shandong,Henan and Anhui. Then summarize the overall research history of Huai River.3.Chapter2:The early Neolithic. In the early Neolithic, there were two types of remains in the northwestern and northeastern regions of the Huaihe River, which were Xinmi Lijiagou and the Yiyuan Bianbiandong. The emergence and existence of the two remains represented different models and laid the foundation for the later cultural pattern.4.Chapter3:The middle Neolithic(8600-7300 BP).The archaeological culture of the northern part of upper Huai River and the central Henan Province was Jiahu-Peiligang Culture, and in the northern part of middle Huai River were the early Shishanzi Culture and Shunshanji Culture during the middle Neolithic. The Huai River, especially the middle and lower Huai River had already formed a cultural community with several same features from the middle Neolithic.5.Chapter4:The Shuangdun-Beixin cultural period(7300-6000BP).During this period, the archaeological culture was Shuangdun culture in both sides of the middle Huai River,in Wensi drainage area was Beixin culture,in the northern part of the lower Huai River was the Dayishan Variation,in central Henan province was Yangshao culture Shigu variation, and in the southern part of the lower Huai River was Longqiuzhuang phasel.Shuangdun culture is a special culture in the middle Huai River, and it is the first prosperity of the prehistoric culture in the Huai River.6.Chapter5:The middle Yangshao cultural period(6000-5400BP).The archaeological culture in central Jianghuai Area was Houjiazhai phase2,in the centralHenan Province was Yangshao Culture Yancun Variation,in the Taiyi Mountain was the Dawenkou Culture Liulin Stage, and in the eastern part of Jianghuai area was Longqiuzhuang phase2.The prehistory culture pattern can be roughly divided into two major systems by the northern part of Huai River. The east of North District is Dawenkou Culture, the west is Yangshao culture, and the central is the transitional area where have the Wuzhuang Phase2,Houtieying,Shishanzi phase3 and Mazhuang remains. In the South District,Houjiazhai phase2,Longqiuzhuang,Beiyingyangying,and Huangshanzui communicate with each other. At the same time, the communication between the north and the south, northwest and southeast are also frequent.7.Chapter6:The late Yangshao Cultural period(5400-4900 BP).During this period, the archaeological culture in the central Henan Province was the Qinwangzhai culture represented by Dahecun phase3 and phase4,in the upper Huai River was Lishangwan Phasel,in the northern part of the middle Huai River was the middle Dawenkou culture represented by Fuzhuang site and Jinzhai site,in the northern part of Huai River was the middle Dawenkou culture Huating Variation, and in the southern part of Huai River was Longqiuzhuang phase3.The most obvious features of cultural communication during this period were the northward propagation of Liangzhu Culture, the westward propagation of Dawenkou Culture, and the northward propagation of Qujialing Culture. The Huai River has become a place where these three strong cultures to compete and communicate. There are only a few cultural factors along the Huai River.8.Chapter7:The Longshan Cultural period(4900-3900BP).This article will put Miaodigou phase2(4900-4400BP)into the early Longshan Cultural period for good writing. However,I will still argue in two stages which are the early Longshan cultural period and Longshan cultural period.During the Miaodigou phase2,the peak of the prehistoric culture of the Huai River emerged—Yuchisi Variation—and exerted a strong influence on the surrounding areas, especially the Jianghuai area.At the same time, the late Qujialing and early Shijiahe culture kept expanding to the upper Huai River. In the late Longshan cultural period, the Huai River was completely defined as a cultural boundary between North and South, and the Huai River became the stage for the interaction of the four major cultural regions. Finally, the Northwestern part of the Huai River was emerged the first dynasty of China--Xia Dynasty-with this interaction.
