The study on money economy of Jin Dynasty is the major content of the study of Jin Dynasty and Chinese money. Copper coin, Paper and Silver were the common money of Jin Dynasty. In the early period of Jin Dynasty, it had no its own money. During the period of Hailing government it had just issued currency. And then,copper coin was the most important money in the period of ShiZong. After the period of Xuan Zong, the rule of money had changed many times, Copper coin and Paper had no use except Silver until the final period of Jin Dynasty.The dissertation has 3 parts, including exordium,5 main chapters and conclusion.The exordium introduces the academic value of this study, reviews previous studies, as well as pointing out the main ideas and innovations of this dissertation.The main text includes five chapters. The first chapter discusses barter trade and the use of Liao and Song Dynasty past money before the period of Hailing, which means the primitive economy of this phase. Then it elaborates the huge money which Jin obtained by war between Liao and Song Dynasty, and analyses the influence on the economy of Jin Dynasty. It explains the cause of no own money before the period of Hailing, and brings forth new ideas that it roots primitive and poor economy impersonally, the official of Jin had no monopolized the mintage personally. In the meantime, it discusses the reason of Paper in advance Copper coin of the period of Hailing by the absence of copper, the imitation of JiaoZi of Song Dynasty, no leaving money in HeNan district, the prosperous economy and the product of totalitarian politics. it brings forth new ideas that it was the product of autarkic economy and totalitarian politics and the outcome of the law of Chinese peculiar currency. It states the cast of “Zheng LongTong Bao” and the arguments about “ZhengLongYuanBao”. At the last, it generalizes the phase and the characteristics of the earlier stage of Jin Dynasty.The second chapter discusses the deficiency of money in ShiZong period. It states the official money deficiency and the civil money deficiency and how to resolve the money deficiency. This chapter discusses the collect of copper and casts the copper coin “DaDingTongBao”, and the use and the abandon of iron money. Short Sterling(Duanmo)is the common money phenomenon in the ancient china. It is the deficiency of money in the circulation that results in Short Sterling(Duanmo)of Jin Dynasty, not the devaluation of money. The copper coin flowing from Southern Song Dynasty to Jin is derived from the difference of the purchasing power of money between the two countries,not the purpose of Short Sterling(Duanmo)in Jin Dynasty. The rate of Short Sterling(Duanmo) has the close relations with the level of economy development and the deficiency of money and the whole commodity price. Short Sterling(Duanmo)of Jin Dynasty exists in the paper money and silver, which is only the common money phenomenon, not the fiscal measure. Finally, it generalizes the phase and the characteristics of the period of ShiZong period.The third chapter discusses that ZhangZong government aborted the cast of copper coin and recast the copper coin, including the law of the limit of money, money deficiency in the official and the civil, the cast of copper coin “TaiHeZhongBao”, the difference of copper coin’s value, privately mintage and privately melting. This chapter discusses the course of Paper money from the law of the limit of seven years to stagnation, including the abandon of the seven years law about Paper money, the stagnation of Paper money, the alteration of institution of money. This chapter also discusses the course of silver becoming to money, including the cause of silver money “ChengAnBaoHuo”, silver and coin, the nature of silver money “ChengAnBaoHuo”. Finally, it generalizes the phase and the characteristics of the period of ZhangZong period.The fourth chapter discusses the disorder of money in XuanZong period. It includes the collapsing economy and the devalue of Paper money. This chapter elaborates the turbulent law of currence, including the limit of Paper money’s district, the official currency buyout, the withdrawal of currency from circulation by tax, the strict law, the taxation of “SangPiGuZhi”, the frugal laws, the permit of private mintage and the alteration of the name of Paper money. This chapter also elaborates the course of copper coin from abandonment to cellaring and to the use of silver. Finally, it generalizes the phase and the characteristics of the period of ZhangZong period.The fifth chapter discusses the issue about the pattern, supervise and exchange of “JiaoChao”, the deficiency of money in Jin Dynasty. It brings forth new ideas that the deficiency of money is copper coin’s deficiency before the issue of Paper money “JiaoChao”, which is the outcome of devalue of Paper money “JiaoChao” after the issue of Paper money “JiaoChao”. This chapter discusses the situation of politics and economy and military of HaiLing period, which brings forth new ideas that the inflation maybe break out. This chapter discusses the inflation of Zhang Zong period, and the alteration of paper money’name, and the hyper inflation of the last of Jin Dynasty.In the last, the conclusion briefly analyses the structure of money economy, generalizes the change of money policy, discusses the mechanism of money system, and summarizes the experience of money economy of Jin DynastyIn a word, in 120 years of the Jin Dynasty, its currency development was established on zero, and then, copper coin, paper money, and silver were the common currency. During the currency from the stability to drastic change, the country changed poorer and poorer. the monetary economy has changed from shortage of money to inflation. The evolution processes from stability to chaos, which makes the money become the reflection on from beginning to end through the wholly Jin Dynasty.
