In this paper,we take the vernacular words after Tang as our research project,focused on a number of issues related to its characters.We use a number of materials which are relatively reliable and clear in history,and take them as our subjects.Some of laws related to them were extrated from them.Overall,there are there parts in this paper,i.e.facts,theory and application.Part Ⅰ,the facts.We discuxxed the changing process of the characters of 25 words,20 monosyllabic words and 5 polysyllabic words.They are: bang(膀),bo(脖),cun(唇),dan(蛋),nuo(挪),pa(趴),pei(赔),peng(碰), ren(仁),tang(躺),tang(烫),tang(趟),tian(舔),wei(喂),wu(捂),ya(哑), ye(页),zhao(找),zhuo(桌),zui(嘴),bajie(巴结),fenfu(吩'),fama(砝 码),gebo(胳膊),nianqing(年轻).First,each characters of the word are written below,then we explore the relationship between these characters. we also revealed many characterstics of the times of of them,and take these phenomenon as identification standards so as to determine the age of some historicaldocuments.Part Ⅱ, the theory. We discussed the feasibility of using the framework of Optimality Theory to explain the change of characters of vernacular words, also conducted a series of practical examples. Specifically, we explored the means by which spoken words could found appropriate character to record them. What’s more, we also discussed the times Ⅲ of written form of vernacular words and the modernization of written form in history.Part Ⅲ, the application. Based on the earlier induction of the times of written form, we determine several literature without clear write/copy times. It’s necessary for further breakdown on late-time literature, and we should pay attention to the treatment of written form of the vernacular words on ancient books.
