A Study On The Guiding Position Of Marxism In Multicultural Context

Under the guiding of Marxism, the Communists had gone through the arduousnational liberation movement and built a new China. Then, Marxist theory has risen tobe the mainstream ideology and takes the guiding position in culture. In recent years,the concept“to insist on and strengthen Marxism’s guiding position” has frequentlyappeared in government’s documents, it comes from the challenges of culturaldiversity and guiding ideology diversity. This thesis mainly argues: the morediversified culture is, the more we should insist on and strengthen the guiding positionof Marxism. In the multicultural context, we should utilize the socialist core valuesystem to guide the multicultural development; use the common ideal of socialismwith Chinese characteristics to unite the people; respect the cultural differences;contain the different ideas and thoughts; resolutely resist the diversity of guidingideology and reject the wrong ideological trend. This theme is the core of ideologicaland political education.This thesis based on the basic principle of Marxism and the socialism withChinese characteristic theory. Centered on the relationship between the guidingposition of Marxism and multi-culture, this thesis has a deep discussion about thequestions below: In the multicultural context, why can Marxism take the guidingposition? What is the guidance of Marxism? How can Marxism work? The threeaspects of the problem have the hierarchy. Why is about the legality; what is about thebasis; How is about implementation. These are the elementary logic to correctly copewith the relationship between the guiding position of Marxism and the culturaldiversity.There are three parts in the process of argumentation, seven chapters together.Part one is about “why can Marxism take the guiding position?” There are threechapters in it. Part Three is about “How can the Marxism’s guiding position work?” There aretwo chapters in it. This part discusses the methodology. It argues: How to guide theformation of socialist ideology and maintain the party’s leadership; How to direct thedevelopment of socialist market economy and improve the people’s happiness index;How to instruct the ideological and political education, cultivate qualified socialistworking people and reliable successors;How to guide the culture system reform,improve the soft power of national culture and establish the socialist cultural power.At the end, some implications have been put forward, it discusses that somerelationships should be handled when insisting on the guiding position of Marxism inthe multicultural context. These relationships are: The relationship between bottomline of ideology and academic freedom; the relationship between Culturalundertakings and culture industry. It is necessary to handle these relationshipsproperly, then the socialist core value system can guide the multi-culture and aharmonious society can be built up.
