The development of the modern society is the result of various ways of integration which acts together. The social integration of ideological and political education is a kind of value integration mode to promote social integration. It is significant for spreading the mainstream ideology and values, building the ideal of future society, explaining social reality, gathering ideological consensus, harmonizing social relationship, stabilizing social order and promoting social harmony.The social integration of ideological and political education has the profound historical origin. The traditional China is a society of rule of virtue. Ideological and political education plays a key role of spreading Confucianism, carrying out rites and music education, maintaining social order and ensuring the long-term existence of the unified country. The idea, content, methods of rule of virtue in the traditional Chinese society give the modern ideological and political education integration much important enlightenment. From the1920s, the establishment of Communist Party of China has endowed ideological and political education with new connotation. Guided with Marxism, ideological and political education is the political advantage of Communist Party of China and a flag to unity kinds of social forces which even plays a role of value orientation, gathering consensus and revivifying in the period of revolution and construction. Certainly, it also has the historical lessons of being absolute and excess in the process of the social integration of ideological and political education of the CPC.The social integration of ideological and political education is the practical needs of China’s social development. Modern society requires a variety of integrated approaches. As a kind of "soft power", the ideological and political education plays an indispensable role in the social integration. Especially in the period of social transition, facing the pluralism of interests, the diversity of value, the declining authority, the imbalance of mentality of people, and the challenges of globalization, the social integration of ideological and political education can maximize the unity of thoughts, reach a consensus. It helps coordinate the interests of the main contradiction and bridge social differentiation rift; and help relieve the social anxiety and cultivate the peaceful and rational mentality. It helps strengthen the authority of the party and government and provide a legal explanation to the political reality. It is conducive to the improvement of the moral quality of national ideology and the formation of the value consensus; and conducive to resistance of corrosion of western thoughts. It can enhance the mainstream ideology identity, and eventually reach the goal of building a harmonious society.The role of the social integration of ideological and political education depends on not only material conditions but also spiritual resources. From the point of the development of human society, what has exploited and used by ideological and political education activities are all the spiritual resources of the social integration of ideological and political education including theory, ideology, values, culture and morals which has effected the implementation of ideological and political education activities. Presently, Marxist theory, the common ideal of socialism with Chinese characteristics, national spirit and time spirit along with Socialist Concept of Honor and Disgrace are not only the main content of ideological and political education but also the main spiritual resources with which the social integration of ideological and political education acts. In contemporary China, Socialist Core Value System is the dominant ideology which is the spiritual bond that gathers social consensus and maintain social solidarity. If we’d like to bring the social integration of ideological and political education into effect, we must make efforts in Marxist ideology, common ideal, national spirit, time spirit, civil virtue and other aspects including changing the concept of ideological and political education, enriching the content of ideological and political education, improving the methods of ideological and political education, strengthening the practice education and system design, enhancing the construction of the education team and aiming at the key crowd. If we do like this, we can surely find the greatest common divisor in the multiple ideas and make the largest joint force in this heterogeneous society to realize the social solidarity and stabilization.
