The Study On The Evolution Of Religious Policies Of Chinese Communist Party Since The Founding Of P.R C

China is a socialist nation ruled by atheist, where a number of religions coexist. Religion, making increasingly widespread impact on domestic and international relations, has become a major issue which relates to national security. It has important academic value, historical value and practical significance to carry out the study on the evolution of religious policies established by Chinese Communist Party since the founding of People’s Republic of China.Since its foundation, especially after taking power in1949, the Communist Party of China has established a series fundamental principles on religious policy towards the freedom of religious belief, self-administration and the law-based administration on religious affaires, the harmony and positivity of religious activities with the united front formed by religious believers, the Party’s leadership of the religious work, and adaptability between religion and the socialist society. Basic religious policy has been enriched and improved in the long-term process of practice. Simultaneously, the Chinese Communist Party’s emphasis on religious theoretical research and improvement also leads to the upholding and development of Marxist View of Religion. It is mainly manifested in the scientific understanding of the essence, roots, history, values and relations of religion, especially in the creative approach to "harmony theory" and "adaptation theory". This paper elaborates and summarizes the formation process, significant meaning and logical relationships of these existing principles and policies; briefly analyzes the religious present situation and then probes into the further promotion of religious work.The paper is divided into three main parts:introduction, text and conclusion. In the part of introduction, the current research situation at home and abroad and the main purpose of study are outlined; the pre-liberation proactive exploration taken by Chinese Communist Party in religious policies is recorded; making the research with focus and integrity. Text is composed of six chapters:the first five chapters sort out the religious policies of Chinese Communist Party developing in various historical stages and make general assessment; Chapter6, on the basis of summing up the historical experience and the reality of the situation, puts forward feasible suggestions on the future development of the Chinese Communist Party’s religious work. Conclusion gives a brief summary on religious policy and theory of the Chinese Communist Party.Taking the method of historical materialism as its guidance and using inductive analysis, historical perspective and integration of theory with practice, this paper sorts out the evolution of the religious policies taken by the Party since the founding of People’s Republic of China, and analyzes their internal logical connection as well. The study offers certain reference significance, mainly on scientific recognizing religious issue, effective promoting religious work, proactive exerting religious role, consolidating Party’s ruling basis and maintaining security and stability of the country, etc. Understanding religious policy of the Party, analyzing the logical relations between religious policies and theories, discussing the evaluation criteria of religious works and exploring direction of its future, the paper will enrich the previous studies and achieve in theoretical innovation.
