From Athletics To Body-building:Rebuilding The Humanistic Spirit Of Physical Education On Campus

The humanistic spirit of physical education is the core of the humanistic physical education on campus, the soul of college culture of physical education, and the great power to promote and impel the comprehensive and coordinated development of college students. The spirit can propel the social process of human-being, guide the healthy development of the college culture of physical education and its pursues the value of "Truth, Goodness and Beauty’", and reveal the unique qualities of physical education on campus are different from those of the other institution, reveal the ultimate concern of the value of being and the meaning of life, and reflect the inherent requirement of the comprehensive development for the physical and mental healthy of college students. Can the humanistic spirit of college physical education play a huge role, largely depend on the realization of the value of college physical education and the culture of the humanistic spirit of college students.Recently, the historical background of the social transition with economical globalization, cultural diversification, and information network, the tendency of "competitive" and the orientation of "utilitarian" of the contemporary college physical education became increasingly apparent, the impetuous morale filled the campus, the spirit of "Ivory Tower" was disseminated by various decadent ideas and temptations, people on campus are also surrounded by vulgar morality, utilitarianism and nihilism. Therefore, the "Humanism" of college physical education was obscured by the "Utilitarianism" that led to the serious crisis of loss which the humanistic spirit of physical education was facing. This study on the basis of previous studies, from the essence of the college physical education, fully tap the historical roots of Chinese traditional sports culture through combing the documents, to interpret the meanings of the humanistic spirit of physical education; to explore the sporting value of us and western countries and gain some certain message. Using the principle of combining the theories and practices to analysis theoretically various deeply reasons which led to the loss of the humanistic spirit of college physical education, and targeted rebuilding it, to achieve the values and ideas of physical education on campus.In order to improve the sporting humanistic accomplishment and the realm of spirit of teachers and students on campus, to bring up the college sports participants with honest and trustworthy, fair competition, and "Humanity". Accordingly, we can search for the lost mainstream of college physical education, and regress the lost "Humanity" of it, to show the highlights of our humanistic spirit of physical education on campus. This report is divided by five sections.The first part is the introduction of this report. Briefly described the reasons of this study, to clarify the theoretical and practical significance, and excavated and combined deeply some relevant research achievement at home and abroad. At last, the part has cited some research direction, content, key and difficult parts, innovated parts and research methods.The second part is the meanings of the humanistic spirit of college sports. Firstly, this part to tally explains the meanings of physical education on campus, its mission is to strong the physical qualities, to propel the health of college students; to improve students to master the basic knowledge’s of the sport, the basic techniques and basic skills (Three Basis); to cultivate the moral willpower, aesthetic and the ability to create beauty of college students; and to train high-grade college athletes. Secondly, the concept of the humanistic spirit of college physical education is defined, as well as the characteristics of it. Finally, the humanistic spirit of college physical education is understudied deeply. In essence, it is based on the humanistic spirit as the core, the essence of the "people-oriented"; from a content point of view, the heroic struggle of the spirit of patriotism, freedom and democracy, the spirit of fair competition, self-improvement heroism, confident and optimistic humanitarian spirit the spirit of teamwork, integrity beyond the five aspects of composition; only profoundly understand and grasp its connotation, can allow universities to benefit fully absorbed nutrients. The third part is the analysis and the characterization of the tendency of "competitive" of the contemporary college physical education and the lost of humanistic spirit. This part is the focus of the study, is an also critical problem area, which belongs to the domain of analyze problems. The loss of the humanistic spirit of college physical education is reflected in three areas, the first is athletic competition on campus, the decline of the humanistic spirit in the tendency of "competitive"; the second is the humanities crisis with the implementation of teaching of college physical education curriculum; The third is the recession of the humanistic spirit in the college sports scientific research. I believe that the defects of the system arrangement and set of the athletic sports, the impact of the "double-edged sword" of the market economic system and the differences of the sports culture between us and western countries, the absence of the college humanistic education and the weakness of college sports teachers’ humanistic literacy is the main factors of the loss of the college sports humanistic spirit. Also analysis the "athletic" in real terms of college sports, the characteristics and the harm caused which rebuilding for the college sports humanistic spirit and guides its direction.The fourth part is the value orientation, theoretical basis and goals of rebuilding for the college sports humanistic spirit. This section firstly discusses the rebuilding value orientation of college sports humanistic spirit. Including the exploration of the spiritual values of humanity, the inheritance of Chinese traditional sports values. On the foundation of the western sports values to expand the physical education on campus that unified by college sports, play college sports humanistic spirit guide, demonstration radiation, fitness and entertainment, constraints and norms, discard and creation function. Secondly this part fully understands the "championitis" which is the essence of the college sports view, that is the guiding ideology of athletics, excessive pursues the "championitis" will lead to the alienation, the loss of subjectivity and humanity of college sports, thus we must overcome mere "championitis" ideology, adhere to the humanism. Finally this part argues that the soma esthetics as a theoretical basis, Guides College sports from athletics to body-building. Interpreting the body-building with the "one"" soul and body by the theories of soma esthetics, to clear the essence of college sports "people-oriented" has been obscured by the "utilitarian", thus the competitive purpose for the "championitis","medal" become the unified spiritual and the material and physical fitness, and insist on physical fitness and truth-seeking perfection combined. The fifth part is the main ways of college sports rebuilding the humanistic spirit. This part is to solve the problem areas, for the loss of the college sports humanistic spirit, we should first understand the importance of rebuilding the college sports humanistic spirit; Secondly, it should be clear to rebuilding the goal of college sports humanistic spirit; Thirdly, it should be based on the principles of the college sports rebuilding the humanistic spirit, and follow the principles step-by-step, plan targeted the rebuilt way of college sports humanistic spirit. Ultimately, it should enhance college sports humanities with the spiritual realm, and the college sports core competitiveness and social performance, and the highest values and ideals of the cultural heritage of Chinese traditional sports, to provide a solid theoretical platform and practical basis.
