Research On The Construction Of Harmonious Campuses From Cultural Perspective

University is a cultural organization with unique functions in nature. College culture, created by its generations after generations of staffs, faculty and students, is the accumulation of the long-term educational practice and a cultural system mainly focuses on academic culture as well as the combination of indigenous and exotic ones; College culture influences the thoughts and behaviors of the majority of the staffs, faculty and students in an intangible manner, becoming a spiritual home to them. The socialist harmonious campuses has been shaped into a fully-coordinated, virtuously-interacted and entirely-optimized form and cultural atmosphere guided by the scientific concept on development, based on the socialist core values system, with the overall sustainable development of all faculty and students being its principle as well as each subsystem, various elements of university alone with the coordinated operation between the university and the society being the core. College culture improves the construction of harmonious campuses by guiding the faculty and the students in the pursuit of common value, shaping common behavior pattern, promoting the internal governance structure of university, so as to improve their cultural awareness, deepen the university culture connotation, and then enhance university culture. Both of them promote each other and contribute to the common development.The significance and value of the construction of harmonious campuses from cultural perspective are embodied in the following five aspects:the requirement of building a harmonious socialist society of the times, the requirement of promoting the great development and prosperity of socialist culture, the inner requirement of realizing scientific development of higher education, the requirement of enhancing the core competitiveness of university, but also the prerequisite of promoting university students’ overall development. The system includes internal and external aspects, namely the balance of each and all elements of university culture and that between university and society culture. The internal balance includes ideological guidance, the driving force of scientific development and the unity and cohesion of its consisting members (including faculty, students,and teaching assistants) as well as its consisting departments (including schools, functional departments, logistics departments). The external includes competitiveness of its outstanding cultural functions, contributions to the society and impact on the public.The construction of harmonious campuses is not only the starting point of all the work of a university, but also the guarantee of a university to realize its scientific development. The basic goal of the construction of harmonious campuses is, based on the cultural feature of university organizations, to fully embody socialist nature and the characteristics of the times, reveal the unique feature of university and maintain a balance between all elements of running university and the whole university system, thus to promote the overall, cooperative and sustained development of university. Therefore, in order to construct harmonious campuses, we should promote the harmony of thoughts by strengthening the core values system of socialist education, maintain the harmony between the internal university spirit and external university image by constructing a university image recognition system, establish interpersonal harmony by constructing rational harmonious relationship and realize the harmony of culture development by constructing abundant and colorful culture carriers.Firstly, the effective strategies of the construction of harmonious campus from cultural perspective should give full play to its systematicness.The construction of harmonious campuses is a complicated systemic project, requiring the socialist core values system as the core, university spirit and advanced ideas the guidance to carry out a scientific and general design. In the process of construction, all parties’ initiatives and enthusiasm should be fully activated, and the related guarantee mechanism be improved so as to promote the sustained development of the harmonious campuses construction. Secondly, university cohesion should be enhanced. The two-level leadership of university and school are the political core, whose collective decision-making should follow the principle of democratic centralism since their overall quality and cooperation play important roles in promoting the harmonious development of university. Therefore, we should promote the construction of a learning-oriented leadership and strengthen their collaborative awareness at the same time so as to improve the executive force of the leadership. Finally, an open concept should be embodied. We should achieve an all-dimensional harmony both in an internal and external manner through an overall opening, which means to promote the awareness and ability to provide society service in order to maintain harmonious development of university in its virtuous interaction with the society; we should increase the channels and contents of international communication and cooperation to improve university’s competitiveness of operation through the experience drawn upon from the foreign; we should also propel the integration and optimization of the resources in school running so as to realize its own harmonious sustainable development.
