The Research Of Shanxi Traditional Sports Culture

Shanxi has a long history and is an important birthplace of the Yellow River culture. The heritage stretching and profound Shanxi culture has made important contributions for the formation and development of Chinese civilization. Shanxi is one of the oldest regions whit the longest historical development and its cultural connotations and heritage lineage is also very rich. Shanxi sports culture occupies a pivotal position in Shanxi culture. Shanxi region geographically from north to south was across greater latitudes. Therefore, the natural environment in Shanxi region is difference from south to north and people’s social life here also had many differences. Shanxi sports culture as a bright pearl in human culture has developed toward various directions.Based on this, we hope to explore the development and evolution of sports culture in Shanxi region by Shanxi different regional sports culture as a starting and this is the significance of the study.This study attempted to draw on regional cultural research methods and researched Shanxi sports culture by historical documentation science, cultural anthropology and field Investigation methods. And history of Shanxi sports culture was restored, its development and changes was explored, which provided some basis for the further prosperity of Shanxi sports culture.The full text was divided into seven partsaccording to the structure. The research background, academic review of the related topics and research methods were firstly analyzed. This would do the theoretical groundwork for the after study.Analysis of the core concepts "Shanxi" and "Shanxi culture" involved in the study was carried out by reading the history of literature. Due to the geographical boundaries being inconsistent with cultural scope of Shanxi culture mentioned in this paper, cultural property of the study might be beyond today’s Shanxi province, but its geographical scope of the study was limited in Shanxi province. The next three parts were about Shanxi regional sports culture research and the main part of this paper. Basing on geomorphologic features, historical origins and folk customs of Shanxi, the geographical area of Shanxi province was divided into Jinbei, Jinzhong and Jinnan three regions. Their sports cultural characteristics were not identical. In Jinbei region archery, wrestling and throwing triggered by a stone ball were mainly events. Apiculate first appeared in Jinbei region, which was history coincidence or the inevitable choice of development of human society? How did Shanxi develop in after apiculate appearing? What was the social function? Wrestling also had a long history and a broad mass participation in Jinbei, whether the name or form of activity changed after centuries or even millennia development in Shanxi. Especially in Xinzhou the specialized athletic wrestling-Naoyang race appeared. Why was there such a wide range of masses influence for the competition in Jinbei region? And this throwing activitywith stone ball as the representative was how to produce? The above questions were answered in the chapter by collecting historical documents and combining archaeological discoveries, from the location, the survival needs, folk customs and other several aspects as the entry point. Among the many sports activities in Jinzhong region, martial arts activities were focused on the analysis.Speaking of Jinzhong, people would first think of Shanxi Merchants. So sports and Shanxi Merchants also have a close relationship. How did martial arts activities thrived under the influence of the Shanxi Merchants economies, and what were the deep-rooted relations between them. These questions would be answered in the section. Traditional sports in Jinnan were the traditional folk sports activities.Therefore, sports culture here was various such as Guan Gong drums, Hedong fire agency, swing, etc.Because Jinnan district was in center of Chinese civilization and affected by farming civilization, sports activities more were a class of traditional folk festival activities.Therefore, this chapter from the geographical background of Jinnan district, combining local folk customs and modes of production and other factors, we focused on the analysis for traditional folk sports of Jinnan district, explored the form and characteristics of its existence and development, analyzed the causes of its characteristics.For the current development plight of Jinnan sports, the current development situation of the local folk sports was deeply understand through into the countryside, field interviews, which hoped to draw an effective solution to the current predicament.In the section the similarities and differences between the sports culture of every Shanxi regions were summarized and the causes were analyzed.A common of sports culture among Shanxi regions was thatthe sports culture derived under the life needs. So it is an original ecological sports, and had become a regional, collective memory and tradition for local people after thousands of years of development and gradual integration into the local ethnic blood, and developed into a local folk sports.Therefore, sports culture of Shanxi was an important intangible cultural heritage and had great historical and practical value. Sports culture of Shanxi had its own unique development context and formed different sports tradition by analysis of different regional sports culture.For further experience the unique spirit of Shanxi culture, Influences of the history culture on Shanxi sports culture were discussed and analyzed mainly including military strategist thoughts in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods,Buddhist thought in the Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties and Shanxi Merchants in Ming and Qing Dynasties.In addition, Shanxi regional sports culture was summarized from the perspective of cultural anthropology and some recommendations for Shanxi sports cultural heritage was presented. Energy leaded to the emergence of sports. By accessing and using energy, the emergence and development of sports was promotedStarvation promoting the use of energy, thus it contributed to the development of sports.Different environments, different cultures derived. These anthropological views were confirmed by regional, heritage and diversity of the Shanxi sports culture.At last, for finding the path of heritage and development of Shanxi sports culture and Advancing prosperity of national sports culture,some specific proposals for Shanxi sports culture development were put forward as following:First,broadening the propagation path of sports culture, especially combining the sports culture, the mass media and school education, and enhancing the popularity of intangible cultural heritage knowledge; Second, multi-channel, multi-level and multi-form development of Shanxi traditional sports cultural industry combining with local sports feas features;Third,establishing a research team with sports culture base and carrying out sports academic exchanges; Fourth, playing fully the role of government, strengthening macro-control, and improving the policies and regulations of protecting cultural heritage sports;Fifth, improving scientific legislation.Shanxi sports culture once had a glorious history, but the present development faced crises. To some extent, the situation also reflected the depression of Chinese traditional sports culture. This study put forward some feasible opinions and suggestions for the Shanxi sports culture problems. We hoped that it played a practical role for development and heritage of sports culture. Because overall study of Shanxi sports culture just started, and fiamework of the study was not very clear, and related research theory was not very mature, and the research was still in the groundbreaking stage, I hoped to provide a useful inspiration for the research and development of contemporary Chinese traditional sports culture through the future efforts.
