Martial arts is the traditional art of Jiji to the Chinese Nation, and “Nanquan-Beitui & Dongqiang-Xigun” was formed in the long-term development. But due to the influence of such factors as the geography, history, and habits for a long time, Xigun is little-known by people. Therefore, this article selects Xigun as the research object, using literature study, expert interview method, on-the-spot investigation method, practice method, regional cultural interpretation and so on, tries to build the system of Gunshu to Xigun, abstract the pattern of skill system, summarize the characteristics of method and style feature to Xigun, interpret the regional culture to Xigun, and so on, so as to make the world get a comprehensive understanding of Xigun by the classifying the system of Gunshu to Xigun, researching the origin, analyzing the skill system, summing up the style characteristics etc. meanwhile, to explore Xigun future development and direction to and provide theoretical reference for the contemporary development to Xigun on the basis of analyzing the status of Xigun. The results of the study--1. Xigun, a main kind of Chinese Gunshu schools, refers to the general designation of tradition Gunshu, "inheritance and orderly, being both fighting and excising, all in principle, method and the form", which originates and spreads in the Northwest of China made up of Shaanxi Province, Gansu Province, Qinghai Province, and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Xigun has a long history, but gets no identified view for its origination due to lack of clear accounts. Some people think Gunshu to Xigun should begin in the early days of Xihan, while some believe the start of Xigun Gunshu should be Tang Dynasty. For the means of originate some agree to troop station, people station, immigration while some to the ancient northwest shepherds. There is also debate on the beginning of Xigun name, some prefer to the Republic of China year, some to Modern Wushu Period, but most people accept the point that with the popularity of “Nanquanbeitui and DongqiangXigun” for Chinese Martial Arts, the name of Xigun came into being. 2. The system of Xigun Gunshu is made up of Daganzi(large pole), Changgun(longstick),Tiaozi(sliver), Biangan(cudgel),Lianjia(whip and chain cangue),which Daganzi is the longest among Xigun various shape equipments, evolved from Daqiang utilized in battlefield; Changgun and Tiaozi are the main body of Xiagun system that Changgun is a sick general sense of the rod while Tiaozi can be called a kind of Spear that played with stick; Biangan is a short weapon among Xigun that holds the skill and feature of Spears, Sticks and Knives and swords. Lianjia, divided into two kinds of large and small chain cangue, is the special shape stick in Xigun. 3. The technology system to Xigun is made up of Gunfa, Gunshi, Gunpai, Gunlu and Gunli,. Among them, Gunfa is the way to attack and defence with a stick; Gunshi is the combination of Gunfa, Gunshi to Xigun is much more memorized and inherited with Taolu; Gunpai to Xigun(briefly called Paizi) is the form of training to imitate fighting and actual combat which comprises Sipaizi and Huopaizi. Gunlu to Xigun refers to the form of Xigun Taolu, the collection of different Gunshi; Gunli is the theory of skill and tactics to Xigun, Xigun Gunli mainly takes Taiji theory to Zhouyi and military strategy, stratagem as Gunli. 4. Xigun has the characteristics of cylindrical rod body, wood, no tip of metal instruments, as well as no blade of metal equipment, so Xigun embodies more skills of pokes, collision, strikes, etc. in order to achieve "striking the table into the ins" and "bumping surface to destroy body" maximum penetration. The decline of inheritance and development of Xigun, skill pursuing routine and Taolu turning into fancy tide, the poor achievement in scientific research and the relatively shallow study degree make Xigun bring out of the decay and bleak in inheritance and development. 8.
