The integration of foreign population play important role on economic globalization, cultural diversity, talent internationalization to one city. Therefore this topic has been paid more attention worldwide.In the process of globalization, especially Global hubs of technological innovation and development of the Free Trade Area, Shanghai are facing accelerating process of globalization and globalization power to the layout of the new opportunities and new challenges. The foreign population is growing quickly and ranking first place in China. In this circumstance, how to evaluate the situation of foreign population integration to city? Which kind of factor could promote the integration level in Shanghai? So, the study has higher practical value on boosting Shanghai international metropolis development and promoting foreign population management service. From a theoretical perspective, foreign population into city is a kind of "embedded" global capital flows, technology transfer, talent migration into important paradigm, which shows the unexplainable new angle of view of current international migration theory of migration and immigration intergration theory. The research of Shanghai foreign population city integration will help to enrich and deepen the existing theoretical basis as supplement of the theoretical system.The study are based on the 6th nation-wide census of population on 2010, including Shanghai Local Chronicles, Shanghai Statistics Yearbook, International Statistics yearbook as the macro research data and the special questionnaire result on 2015 as microscopic data. The purpose is to get a whole view on the history and era characteristics of foreign population integration through the macroscopic data. To take advantage of the Structural Equation Model to build the evaluation index system of Shanghai foreign population social integration through the microscopic survey data; To do the path analysis on the observable variable and exogenous variable based on the Bayesian Structural Equation Model in order to find the influenced factor and inner mechanism. Again with in-depth interviews and other methods to have further study, makes every effort to make research extensive and profound, layer upon layer depth.This study is composed of 7 chapters:Chapter 1, mainly introduces the study background, significance of selected topic, major conception and content framework. Chapter 2, preliminary builds the study dimension and elements of foreign population social integration model based on the concerning study result and theories, in order to provide the theory support to the following empirical analysis. Chapter 3, to build the dimensions and element theoretical mode need as supplement. Chapter 4, based on the theoretical model rebuilds and verifies the evaluation index system of foreign population social integration with the quantitative evaluation method of Structural Equation Model. Chapter 5, based on the result of Bayesian Structural Equation Model, testifies and analysis the factors of foreign population social integration and those foreign population in different education degree and residence time. Chapter 6, analyzes the trend pattern of international migration from space perspective. Using the experience of other country’s social integration, the relevant policy suggestions are put forward. Chapter 7, summarizes the whole study conclusion, further concludes and points out the innovation and further prospects of research.So the main conclusions of this study are as follows:After dividing 6 dimension of social integration, there are difference on the index system between foreign population and other immigration group. The psychological need level rise from the psychological sense of belonging on psychological dimension, which expresses the pursue value to the high quality of life and personal fulfillment of those international immigrants. After controlling other variables, education level plays a negative influence to psychological need, and positive to behavioral adaptation and social constructs, which means human capitals helps foreign population to build the social network and behavioral adaptation, but fails to meet their psychological need. Residence time plays positive influence on economic integration for foreign population, but not to social construction, culture & system agreement. The above conclusion reflects currently Shanghai couldn’t meet the requirement of high-end immigrants in some ways, the conflict on the society, culture and system to these foreign population will continue to exist and hard to be broken for long time. The foreign population social integration in Shanghai belongs to the "pluralism" instead of assimilation theory from the theoretical perspective.The research innovation s are as follows mainly:Assimilation theory belongs to pluralism which is difficult to explain in the traditional social integration theory. To create the foreign population social integration evaluation index system by the factor analysis of Structural Equation Model; to analyze the foreign population social integration influential factor by Bayesian Structural Equation Model for solving the problem of high heterogeneity of foreign population. The research perspective on comprehensive analysis and construction of evaluation index system for foreign population social integration are innovative. The dimension of the evaluation index system established with pertinence, model construction and the opinion conforms to the special group characteristics of foreign population.
