A Study On The Competitiveness Of Mutton Sheep Industry In Inner Mongolia

Inner Mongolia is the main province of the mutton production; mutton sheep industry has played an important roles in animal husbandry for Inner Mongolia. And it is national characteristics and advantages industry for Inner Mongolia. Therefore, take the competitiveness of mutton sheep industry in Inner Mongolia as research subject has important theoretic value and practical significance.Based on the existing economics and management knowledge, comparative advantage theory, competitive advantage theory and other related theory, took Potter’s diamond model as the analysis tool, this paper constructed regional and provincial mutton sheep industry competitiveness evaluation system. On this basis, the paper established competitive evaluation system for regional mutton processing enterprises. Then the paper evaluated competitive position that the status of Inner Mongolia in Chinese mutton sheep industry competitiveness, the status of the mutton sheep industry competitiveness in the Inner Mongolia region, and the status of the mutton processing enterprises in the Inner Mongolia region respectively, using the principal component analysis, system clustering analysis, market share analysis, DEA/GRA model. And it combined with the four evaluation findings in scientific and organically using the combination evaluation. Further, it draw the final evaluation results for that, In addition, according to the evaluation and analysis on the competitiveness of Inner Mongolia in chinese mutton sheep industry, combined with the Porter Diamond Model, this paper analyzed the advantages and restricting factors of the sheep industry for Inner Mongolia.The main research conclusions are as follows:Firstly, Inner Mongolia has obvious advantages of production factors competitiveness, relevant supporting industry competitiveness and comprehensive competitiveness in the provincial competitiveness. But demanding condition, strategic structure and competitor competitiveness has general competitive advantage. Secondly, in the regions competitiveness, Xilinguole, Chifeng and Hulunbuir have obvious production factors competitiveness; Baotou, Ordos and Hohhot have evident demanding condition competitiveness; Chifeng, Hulunbuir and Xilinguole have distinct relevant supporting industry competitiveness; Tongliao, Chifeng and Hulunbuir have more significantly strategic structure and competitor competitiveness; while Chifeng, Wulanchabu and Xilinguole have obvious comprehensive competitiveness. Thirdly, the top five cities of mutton processing enterprises competitiveness in region of Inner Mongolia is Baotou, Chifeng, Hulunbuir, Wulanchabu and Xilinguole. Fourthly, natural resources advantage and general production factors are the main decided factors to mutton sheep industry competitiveness. Grassland area, crop planting area and employees is the main influence factors of production competitiveness; Population size and income is the main influence factors of demand condition competitiveness; The number of sheep is the main influence factors of relevant supporting industry competitiveness; The proportion of mutton sheep and number of beef are the main influence factors of strategic structure and competitor competitiveness.The possible contributions of this paper are as follows:Firstly, some exploration was made on the perspective of research. From the study content, the paper have studied on the international competitiveness of mutton or live sheep, and have studied from the perspective of mutton or live sheep, in recent years. From the study object, the paper have studied on the international competitiveness of mutton sheep industry or mutton, and have studied from the perspective of China. But the paper which studies on the competitiveness of mutton sheep industry in Inner Mongolia is still in the blank stage, and studies from the industrial perspective. This paper is to expand and update of the study perspective for studying on the competitiveness of mutton sheep industry in Inner Mongolia, based on the overall competitiveness level of the sheep industry.Secondly, a bold exploration was undertaken in building a comprehensive appraisal index system of mutton sheep industry competition ability. Based on industry perspective, and as a theoretical tool of the Porter Diamod Model, this paper designed a comprehensive index system of provincial mutton sheep industry competition ability which includes first class indexes of four and second class indexes of twenty-four, a comprehensive index system of regional mutton sheep industry competition ability which includes first class indexes of four and second class indexes of twenty-one, a comprehensive index system of regional mutton processing enterprises competition ability which includes first class indexes of three and second class indexes of fourteen. So these systems have tried to achieve comprehensive, accurately reflect the goal of competitive power condition, and eliminate the repeating among different indexes when characterizing competition ability, and have increased the accessibility of indexes, thus reduced a lot of work.Thirdly, using the multivariate statistical analysis method, comparing and ranking provincial mutton sheep industry competitiveness of China, regional mutton sheep industry competitiveness of Inner Mongolia and competitiveness of mutton sheep processing enterprises, enrich the provincial and regional competitiveness theory to some extent; this paper draw lessons from agricultural competitiveness and animal husbandry competitive research method, selecting five kinds of method, relevant statistics of China and Inner Mongolia, analyzing the competitiveness of mutton sheep industry, the results reflect latest relative status of mutton sheep industry competitiveness in both provinces and cities, have important reference value to develop modern mutton sheep industry and enhance mutton sheep industry competitiveness of provinces and cities.Fourthly, making a quantitative research on mutton sheep industry competitiveness of Inner Mongolia, define the status of Inner Mongolia mutton sheep industry in China and regional mutton sheep industry in Inner Mongolia, analyzing the advantages and restricted factors of mutton sheep industry in Inner Mongolia, put forward to some basic ways and countermeasures to enhance Inner Mongolia mutton sheep industry, provide theoretical references to policy making.
