Yu Ying-shih denies his identity as a Neo-Confucian, regarding Modern New Confucianism as "the a faction of Hsiung Shih-li", but under the notion of "General New Confucianism", it is easy to find out something in common between Yu Ying-shih and Moderm New Confucianism, such as the active recognition for value system of confucianism, deep concern for modern fate of Confucianism, seeking the combination between tradition and modern by creatively interpreting confucian traditions, etc. however, comparing with "Narrow New Confucianism", Yu Ying-shih also expresses his distinct ideological personality. It is intensively reflected in his reconstruction for the historical image of ideology of idealism in Song dynasty, the new explanation of Wang Yangming’s philosophy of the mind and his characteristic theory:Confucianism accordatura of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,"Confucian intellectualism" and "Weberian proposition". The profound, dynamic views of Confucianism and strong, intense consciousness of problems, reflect the multi-expansion of Modern Confucianism; Yu Ying-shih’s general research methods of cultural history with the combination of "internal logic" and "external situation" even emerges the distinguish between his ideology and style with "Paradigm of Philosophy History". Therefore, it is fair to say it as "Yu Ying-shih’s Paradigm".However,"Yu Ying-shih’s Paradigm" and Yu Ying-shih’s ideology is a contradictory complex. Yu Ying-shih advocates showing the characteristic of Chinese culture by systematical comparison between eastern and western cultures, but it is a suspicion for him that he analogies western theoretical framework by Chinese historical experience; he stresses the independence and initiative of thinking, and opposes absolute self-sufficiency of thinking, multiform determinism and reductionism, but his survey for social and historical element has become affiliated argument of ideological and cultural transcendence in one sense; when he criticize some New Confucianism reducing cultural, social, political and economic life into the evolution of inherent philosophy, Yu Ying-shih also repeats New Confucian’s deviation in some ways; he pursues reappearing historical context, trustily closing and restoring the clear picture of history, but it is hard to avoid preconceived notions in historical material organization, context construction and intention explanation. It is related to deep "modernity" value appeal, thoughts alteration on entering political stratum, Chinese sense of compassion and "ideal" humanistic concern. It makes some tension between the value faith and historical position which Yu Ying-shih insists on. This tension violates a principle:"the belief of value system is cultivated by the historical facts of value system, and the value system must appear in the extension of history at the same time". So It may be the most important inspiration, which provided by Yu Ying-shih’s Confucianism and modern annotation of Confucianism, that how to explore the dynamic balance.
