So, this paper mainly researches on the1980s’ literary criticism, and takes priority to its important aspects which were not well dealt with, through the depiction and interpretation of the basic breakthroughs the research on Breakthrough and limitation of1980s’literary criticism is not only expected to identify its reasonable position in the development of20th century’s Chinese literary criticism, but also strives to provide a beneficial enlightenment for constructing after-1990s’Chinese literary critics dilemma and contemporary theory of literary criticism.Apart from the introduction, this paper consists of five chapters.Chapter one:"roller-coaster" style of1980s literary criticism This chapter mainly explores the development process of the1980s literary criticism in great social transitional change, and highlights its breakthroughs and achievements in the process of depicting and interpreting its development. In general, its development presents a state of ups and downs, twists and turns of "the roller coaster", to be Specific, in the early1980s, literary criticism ranges from the argument on "scar literature" and "reflection literature" of the political color to the enhancement of aesthetic consciousness after discussing on "misty poetry" and "the modernist" and then it comes to around1985, with a new force of the variety of criticism and aesthetic criticism suddenly rising, literary criticism developed to a peak and gradually back to literary criticism itself. Finally, at the late1980s and early’1990s, because of the impact of such factors as commodity tide and politics, literary criticism took a new change and turning point. And with the emergence and rise of cultural criticism in the1990s, the depression of publications and differentiation of critics, literary criticism, on the whole, fell down to the low.Chapter Two:the games of "new concept" and confusion of "-ism". From chapter two to chapter five, this paper will mainly illustrate a few relatively obvious limitations of1980s’literary criticism. In the second chapter, it will introduce the limitations on new concept, term, scope, and proposition as the1980s’new concept wave comes, In which some examples like the bombing of new concept, inflexible way of thinking from behind, obstacles from some sort of political cultural psychology, chasing new concept of the games and so on. At the same time, it also analyzes several typical concept limitations, such as "Chinese literature of the20th century","-ism". In short, this chapter will clarify the from the literary criticism at its most basic term level to clarify the lost and confusion of1980s’literay criticism according to the level at the basic concepts and terms of literature.Chapter Three:new method’s practice, prosperity and confusion. One of the important breakthroughs of1980s’literature criticism is the increase in methods, the rise of1985’s "hot method" is still praised by so many people till today. But it is just here that reflects the limitations of the1980s’literary criticism. For example, the barrier of translation theory and criticism practice, the division of criticism method from literary creation practice, the stiff transplant and paraphrase of criticism method, misuse of criticism method, the poverty and alienation of criticism method, etc. Among them, the weaknesses and dilemma of formalism criticism method, as well as of the myth of "the hot natural science methods" will be mainly analyzed. These two methods were very popular as two "favorites" in "the hot theory of method" wave of the Time. It’s existed limitations are more representative.Chapter Four:" want" of theoretical resources and "castle" of critical concept.1980s is China’s second major introduces period of "absorbing western culture", in which new western theoretical resources and critical concept constantly were translated and flooded into China. The new theory resources and criticism concept would undoubtedly play an important role in enriching Chinese literary theory criticism and changing people’s ideas. However, on the other hand,"want" and "aphasia" of local resources to some extent result from too much superstition and worship of western literary theory, highlighting poverty of Chinese literature theory criticism.Meanwhile, for the exploration and use of some criticism concept, it has gone into a blind spot, the most typical one is the continuation of " binary " concept of thinking, which helps to save people from closed political circles within a short time, and quickly fell into some other closed castle of criticism concept, such as aesthetic criticism and subjective concept of criticism, etc.Chapter Five:the limit of critic subject:type, composition of knowledge, the insight of integrity. This chapter mainly discusses various limitations on1980’s literary criticism subject that is we call the literary criticism participants and practitioners of the time.As we know, both new words and new methods, or the use of theoretical resources and the criticism concept innovation, in fact, is inseparable from the critics’participation and practice. If "literature is humanism", and then to paraphrase this sentence patterns, critics also say that "criticizing is also the learning of critics". Therefore, this chapter will focus on three generations including Lao-Zhong-Qing critics as the subject of literary criticism and their limitations on structure of knowledge, criticism of mind, vision of aesthetics and discourse of criticism.
