Wang Chong’s Lunheng was a great book contains abundant Literary and artistic idea. Inthe development from the Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties’ literary theory to Wei-Jin-South-NorthPeriod’s, he walked ahead of other contemporary theorists. Wang Chong tried to use differentname to refer to literature types, he had recognized definition of literature, writing and so on. WangChong attempts to use “wen xue”,“wen”,“wen zhang”,“wen ci” to distinguish literary form andtype, and understand the style of the form and content, these represent the Han dynasty’sliterature concept’s progress; but the idea of Wang Chong had its limits, his “wen” is notcompletely in the sense of literature “wen”, also mixed this etiquette form, the system of laws,fragments, palms, etc.The Chapter2was a theory of literary creation. Wang Chong did not only recognize thesocial reality and the environment and other external conditions to make writers create an article,also realized that the individual deep psychological factors was the key to writing. Wang Chongthought highly of talent personality and about writers. He also put the writers’ moralself-cultivation as a measure of an important factor. His methods opened character of talentevaluation, for the value creation subject to writers’ talent played a leading role.The Chapter3was standard of literary criticism. Wang Chong advocated literature to be“true”. Its “true” mainly had two aspects.“shi zhen” was a foundation, requiring article should be true and reliable. Wang Chong advocated writing should serve the people. Wang Chong’s“qingzhen” is around the “shi zhen”,maily serving the utilitarianism which is not the pureliterature meaning of lyric, and therefore lead to insufficient understanding of some art skills.However,in general,regardless of the “shi zhen” or “qingzhen” is the unity of content and formfor requirements.
