Feng Xu was a representive literator and scholar of late Qing Dynasty and Min Guo. He had undergone serious reforms both in politics and academics.This thesis, with the sort of chronicle, focuses on Feng Xu’s all kinds of literary activities in detail, expecting to accurately records his life and achievements, also to reflect the development of general literary world in his time, with the purpose of a solid foundation for further research.Feng Xu (1844-1927), whose given name is "Xi" or "Xu" and who styled himself as "menghua","haoan" and "haosou". He lived in Baoying as a boy, but his hometown was Jintan city Jiangsu province. He passed the royal examination in1886, and won the third place, then gained the title of Jinshi. He hold several posts in the central government for nine years since1886. Then he was appointed officials of the local government in Shanxi, Sichuan and Anhui provinces from1895to1910. After the Revolution in1911, he lived in Shanghai and joined various associations. As the typical "Yi Lao", he contacted with many famous literators, such as Chen Sanli, Shen Zengzhi, Chen Yan, Miu Quansun, Chen Kuilong, Zheng Xiaoxu, and Zhu Zumou.His works were rich in record. Specific say, Hao An Lei Gao, Xu Gao, Zou Gao, Sheng Gao, Za Zu, Sui Bi, and other writings were roughly several volumes. In addition, He arranged and compilated quite a few local literature, and helped Liu Chenggan to revis Jin Ling Cong Shu, making great contributions to collect, collate, preserve and utilizate the local works.He was a famous litterateur of late Qing dynasty. First, as a poet, he excelled in Jueju. Most importantly, he was dedicated to Ci and writtened a book titled Hao An Ci. Meanwhile, he did research on them and finished the work of The61Ci writers of Song Dynasty Selection, achieved his theories, which was well known as Hao An Lun Ci. He was also a well-known philanthropist, and organized a number of disaster relief activities.The dissertation based on Fengxu’s all sorts of works and a great deal of original historical materials, is aimed to display an detailed account of his whole life. It will gain some conclusion for him and the society.The annual biography is divided into four sections.A)1843-1885The period before he passed the royal examination.B)1886-1894The period of being officials of the central government.C)1895-1910The period of being in Shanxi, Sichuan and Anhui provinces.D)1911-1927The period after he was relieved of office.
