This article starts from the analysis of the grammar characteristic and meaning, aboutthe three words order of the propositional phrase “在+NP”, under the two principles ofrestriction of words order, analyzed from multiple angle. Also, use the construction grammartheory to study the meaning of the construction in the use of the verb before and after of theprepositional phrase “在+NP”. This article is divided in five chapters.Chapter1is the introduction part. Mainly introduces the purpose of this article, thetheories and the methods of investigation, etc. In the present chapter reviews the investigationrelated to the previous preposition and the prepositional phrase. There are two parts: the firstone is about the grammar characteristic and meaning of the preposition and the prepositionalphrase, and the historical evolution of its study; the second part is about the investigationevery direction of the word order restrictional element of prepositional phrase “在+NP”.Chapter2is the investigation of the grammar characteristic and meaning. The internalstructure of word order of prepositional phrase is relatively established. The preposition islocated in the front, and the locality noun is in the back. And the prepositional object islocated in the middle. But the location of the prepositional phrase is relatively free. Typicallythe preposition is “在”, and the prepositional phrase “在+NP” can be located in three places. In other words, it can be located at the beginning of the sentence, in front of the verb, andafter the verb. This chapter based in the static analysis of the text corpus, studies the functionof the grammatical meaning in the three locations of “在+NP”. First researches the sentence"在+NP" from a different type of writing in the text corpus. And then, after analyzing the NPmeaning type, had discovered that when NP is used in the "在+NP" sentence it gains alocation concept. And finally, describes the characteristics of the three word order of"在+NP" grammatical meaning, and investigates the three word order transformationcondition and mechanism. The three differences of grammatical word order is that A typecannot use the original form of the verb, but B type can use it. And C type verb is mainlymonosyllabic, and NP mostly uses specific location concept word.Chapter3is the historical investigation of the location word and the prepositionalword order. It investigates the location word; preposition and prepositional phrase from thefirst inscriptions on ancient bronze object in the early Chinese script to the first bright period. It explains the grammar characteristic and meaning of each period and studies the rules and causes of the word order transformation. From the study of the historical transformation wecan discover the changes of the location word preposition and prepositional verb, that in theprocess of transformation from after verb moved to before verb.Chapter4is about the word order restrictional element in the prepositional word"在+NP". This chapter investigates the influences received by the grammatical word order of"在+NP" under the rules of two bases: iconic principle and abstract principle. Under thedomination of iconic principle "在+NP" follows the rules of temporary sequence, container&path diagram, and relational mediate principle. Under the domination of the abstract principle"在+NP" receives influence in the order as it is used to connect top and bottom sentences. And in addition, the structure of information which is used to place the old informationbefore the new information affects the "在+NP" selection of order. Finally, there is a rule thatthe scene has to be placed before the target. Through investigation we discovered that eachword order mechanism cannot cause an absolute influence in the "在+NP" word orderselection. Each rule is applied according to the needs of the speaker. Therefore, each rule is inmutual complementary relation. Among them, the rule of the relational mediate principle inthe prepositional phrase "在+NP" has a great role in it. That is because the generation of thelocation postposition by the historical transformation view, is proof of it. Following, theprinciple of temporary sequence in Chinese has a considerable effect in the prepositionalword. But this cannot explain in part the word order of the prepositional word "在+NP".Phrases dominated by a partial principle of temporary sequence only can give a satisfactoryexplanation through the abstract principle.Chapter5is the analysis of the constructional meaning in the preposition phrase“在+NP”. It investigates about the constructional meaning represented in the word orderphrase of the two types: Type B(在+NP+VP)and Type C(V+在+NP).The Type B andType C have a considerably important role in their own constructional element. That is thereason that Type B and Type C have a different constructional element meaning. Not onlyhave differences in the word order, but mostly they differ in the charter of the constructionalelement. As well, Type B represents the repeatability of movement, and Type C representssingle mobility movement. At the same time Type C represents the event of the objectcondition.Chapter6is the conclusion part.
