In view of the translation textbooks building lagging behind the translationteaching reform of the undergraduate Russian majors, the paper puts forward theconstruction of translation textbooks system for the undergraduate Russian majors. Theso-called “translation textbooks system for the undergraduate Russian majors” refers toa whole of the interrelated translation textbooks for the undergraduate Russian majors.In this system the textbooks belong to different levels, with different functions, so theyhave different compilation purposes, contents and methods. In order to construct thetranslation textbooks system for the undergraduate Russian majors with both theoreticaland application value, the author fully explores the practical and theoretical bases of thetranslation textbooks system for the undergraduate Russian majors.The practical bases of the translation textbooks system for the undergraduateRussian majors include: the current situation of translation textbooks compilation forthe undergraduate Russian majors, translation teaching levels of the undergraduateRussian majors, students’ Russian proficiency, their translation learning motivation,requirements of translation market for Russian translators, etc. Among all the practicalbases, the current situation of translation textbooks compilation for the undergraduateRussian majors is the most direct and important practical basis. The theoretical bases ofthe translation textbooks system for the undergraduate Russian majors include thetheoretical bases of content construction and the theoretical bases of structureconstruction. The former include: translation teaching theory, translation theory,linguistics theory, thinking theory, etc. The latter include: system theory, theory ofteaching materials, theory of cognitive psychology, etc. Among all the theoretical bases,translation teaching theory is taken as the dominant theory. The theory of teachingmaterials is taken as the basic theory. They are the most direct and important theoreticalbases. Starting from the practical and theoretical bases of the translation textbooks system for the undergraduate Russian majors, the author draws four principles on theconstruction of translation textbooks system for the undergraduate Russian majors: theprinciple of necessity, the principle of inheriting the past and ushering the future,theoretical guiding principle, the principle of seeking truth from facts. Based on theabove principles, using simile, the author takes the translation textbooks system for theundergraduate Russian majors as a tree, and puts forward to the model of translationtextbooks system tree for the undergraduate Russian majors. The theoretical value of themodel is to directly show the nature of “diversity and unity” in the translation textbookssystem for the undergraduate Russian majors. Its application value is to providereference frame, so that universities can “adjust measures accordingto conditions of X” to construct a specific translation textbooks system for theundergraduate Russian majors.
