Research On Yangzi River Delta Manufacturing Advancing And Its Energy-saving And Environmental Protecting Effects

The regional economic development of China is stepping into a new round stage of structureadjustment. In the twelfth five-year plan the role of the eastern region is further made clear asimportant guidance and support for the national economic growth. The eastern region shouldparticipate in international competition and cooperation in higher levels, and be in the lead to changethe style of economic growth, economic structure adjustment and independent innovation.Manufacturing is the subject of modern industry, and the primary driving force of economicdevelopment in China. To build up a world manufacturing base is the important strategic goals of theYangtze River Delta. In recent years a large number of international manufacturing enterprisesgathers in the Yangtze River Delta and becomes the economic growth pillar in this region.The Yangtze River Delta becomes "the workshop of the world manufacturing industry" by virtueof the advantage of low-cost production elements, and forms certain comparative advantage in thelabor-intensive industry for a long time. However, the appearance of the labor division mode withinproducts based on global value chain makes a national or regional manufacturing competitiveadvantage no longer just the reflection of a product or a particular industry, but also that of the labordivision link. If it is in the high-end or strategic link of the value chain higher industry added valueand profitability will be brought. The manufacturing industry in Yangtze River Delta can only getlimited profits at the end of the value chain link, because of its engagement in common partmachining and assembly task with lower added value. Nowadays the manufacturing structure istransformed from labor-intensive to technology-intensive industry, but manufacturing economicbenefits and international competitiveness remains to be further improved. In view of the importanceof manufacturing industry in the Yangtze River Delta economy, in the requirement of globalcompetition and the new road to industrialization, research on manufacturing industry transformationand upgrade of Yangtze River Delta has great theoretical significance and practical value.In this thesis, from sorting out the traditional theories of industry development, the concept ofmanufacturing advancing is made clear, on which the measurement index system of manufacturingadvancing is built. After making measurement assessment on the Yangtze River Delta manufacturingadvancing level, the influencing factors on the Yangtze River Delta manufacturing advancing areinvestigated. And then further empirical research on the influence of the Yangtze River Deltamanufacturing advancing on regional energy consumption and environmental quality is carried out.At last, the policy suggestions for promoting the Yangtze River Delta manufacturing advancing isadvocated from the point of view of governmental function innovation. The detailed content includes:Firstly, the related theories of industry upgrade and manufacturing advancing are analyzed. Thereview, sorting and analysis on traditional industry development theories are carried out from theaspects of industry structure evolution and upgrade theory, global value chain theory, resources andenvironment economic theory and new industrialization theory. On the basis of the above researchwork, the concept of manufacturing advancing is made clear.Secondly, the measurement index system of manufacturing advancing in the Yangtze River Delta is built. After elaboration of the functions and setting principle of manufacturing advancing evaluationindex system, the measurement index system of manufacturing advancing is built from twodimensions, i.e. structure goodness and value chain height. The calculation and measurement arecarried out on structure goodness, value chain height and manufacturing advancing index of theregional manufacturing industry. And the relation between manufacturing advancing andmanufacturing profit level is analyzed.Thirdly, the influencing factors of manufacturing advancing are researched. By taking themanufacturing advancing index as the dependent variable, and the levels of dependence on foreigntrade and marketization, human resource quality and economic development stage as the independentvariables, the multivariate linear regression model is built to quantitatively analyze the influence ofthe factors on manufacturing industry advancing level.Fourthly, the energy-saving effect of Yangtze River Delta manufacturing advancing is analyzed.At first the empirical analysis of industrialization on energy consumption is carried out. And then theenergy consumption features of manufacturing as the subject of the Yangtze River Delta industry iselaborated. The relation of Yangtze River Delta manufacturing advancing and regional energyconsumption intensity is researched by building the multivariate regression model to evaluate theenergy saving effect of Yangtze River Delta manufacturing advancing.Fifthly, the environmental conservation effect of the Yangtze River Delta manufacturingadvancing is analyzed. The multivariate linear regression model is built to quantitatively analyze theinfluence of the Yangtze River Delta manufacturing advancing on the environmental quality in thisregion. The environmental protection effect generated by Yangtze River Delta manufacturingadvancing is analyzed.At last, the policy suggestions for promoting the Yangtze River Delta manufacturing advancingare advocated. On the basis of theoretical analysis on manufacturing advancing influencing factorsand quantitative research results of multivariate linear regression model, the policy suggestions forpromoting the Yangtze River Delta manufacturing advancing is advocated from the point of view ofgovernmental function innovation.
