Research On The Coupling Relationship Between Urbanization And Geo-hazards

With the development of urbanization,human activities caused a series of geo-hazards,which caused a huge casualties and economic losses.There is a complex relationship between urbanization and geo-hazards.At present,research on the relationship between urbanization and geo-hazards in China is still in a macro level,and lacks the empirical researches.Based on the analysis of the relationship between urbanization and geo-hazards,this paper analyzes the coupling relationship between the two aspects in both qualitative and quantitative way through the construction of the coupling model.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Based on the economics of hazards,this paper puts forward that the effect of relationship between urbanization and geo-hazards is not only negative,the positive relationship between each other also exist.Urbanization promotes the prevention and control of geo-hazards,as well as the combination with city planning and geo-hazards,which effectively promote the sustainable development of urbanization.(2)This paper uses DEA-Malmquist method to evaluate the efficiency of China's geo-hazards prevention.We found that provinces of high incidence of geo-hazards such as Tibet,Sichuan and other provinces,the geo-hazards prevention investment achieved good results,but the overall efficiency showing a polarization trend.In addition,geo-hazards prevention efficiency is mainly caused by the scale of investment,which shows that China's investment in the prevention of geo-hazards,especially in key areas,achieved good results.(3)This paper establishes the coupling model of urbanization and geo-hazards based on the Entropy-TOPSIS method and the coupling coordination degree formula.Then chooses the geo-hazards,the damage,prevention and control as well as the urbanization variables from population,economy,society and the space aspects,in order to quantitative analysis of coupling relationship between urbanization and geo-hazards.(4)By analyzing the overall results,coupling degree and the coupling coordination degree,we find that the coordinated relationship of China's urbanization and geo-hazards is gradually improved.Then using CAD software to draw pictures of the coupling coordinated degree distribution of 31 provinces,which not only confirms the temporal variation,but also find that there were certain spatial characteristics,namely the coupling coordination degree of the western region is generally higher than the central and eastern,and increased gradually from the western region to the others.
