From the mid-Eastern Han Dynasty (about 105 AD), as a pearl of the traditional culture crown, China's papermaking skills in the Eurasian continent widely spread,largely changed the history of human history. However, nearly half a century, with the extensive use of electronic media, as well as the industrialization of large-scale production under the background of modern papermaking, hand-made paper has gone down from the original altar, into a small corner declining. What are the characteristics of traditional Chinese handmade papermaking techniques, which cultural and spiritual values, how to adapt to modern society and other issues become the focus of this study to explore the direction. The answer to these questions has a strong reference for the protection, inheritance and development of China's intangible cultural heritage. At the same time, in determining the development direction of traditional handmade papermaking,it is necessary to sort out the modernity and postmodernity of the modem social mechanism, and to clarify the cultural development of the past, the present and the future. Further, China, which has a long history of accumulation, is still in the process of modernization, how to extract the traditional cultural genes from the millennium handmade paper and decrypt and reorganize it, transform the heavy historical burden into rich cultural background. The formation of adapt to the future of the new world of thought and culture, also has far-reaching theoretical significance.The paper is divided into eight chapters. Chapter 1 is an introductory part, which explains the origin and significance of the research, the research situation at home and abroad, the research ideas and methods, and the innovation. Chapter 2 is a general overview of China's handmade papermaking. In this chapter, the history, origin,innovation, distribution and category of Chinese handmade papermaking are introduced and discussed. Focus on the inventor of handmade paper the issue is compared with the Watt case study, and based on long-term field investigation and literature review of the accumulated data to draw the existing hand-made paper transmission map. Chapter 3 is the deconstruction and factor analysis of the modernization of handmade papermaking in China, distinguishing the conceptual relationship between modernity, postmodernity and modernization, and decomposing the subject and object of environment. Chapter 4.5 and 6 selects three representative paper types of Jing County which is in Anhui Province, Sichuan Jiajiang Bamboo Paper and Yunnan Dongba Paper. It is a case study of both the abstract elements of handmade papermaking in Chapter 3 and showing the details of the traditional Chinese handmade papermaking and development problems for the next chapter of the practice of analysis to provide material. On the basis of the previous six chapters,the author analyzes the key dimensions of the modernization of Chinese handmade papermaking, and points out the three dimensions of the industry, the system and the spirit. Chapter 8 concludes the conclusion of the paper, and gives the corresponding suggestion of the modern construction of the handmade papermaking for different people. It discusses the traditional disenchantment and transcendence in the thesis,and gives the shortcomings of the paper and the prospect of the follow-up study.In this study, through a series of literature reading, survey interviews and comparative analysis, the conclusions are mainly concentrated in the following three aspects.1, on the origin and status of China's handmade paperPaper technology from the Western Han Dynasty of China, the Eastern Han Dynasty Cai Lun is the main innovator of the technology and set the master, with reference to the improvement of the steam engine, can be said Cai Lun is the inventor of papermaking. This conclusion responds to the long debate over the academic circles around the inventor of papermaking.In the current situation, on the whole, China's handmade paper in the mechanism of paper and electronic media under the dual impact, its influence is not as good as before, but still widely distributed in the Chinese land.2, on the modernization of China's handmade papermakingIn the hand-made paper industry level, should be open and inclusive, advancing with the times to see the rational perspective of China's handmade paper technology improvement. Multi-channel development "experience-style" paper culture tourism,make full use of hand-paper culture space. Should adapt to the changes of the times and media technology changes, explore the integration of handmade paper and digital publishing path. Combined with modern life, to expand new areas of paper fashion and the art.At the institutional level, each handmade paper area may be selected according to local two conditions of "production protection" or "passive protection" mode. In the industry management system, should be based on the modern enterprise system based on the use of human management methods, attention to creativity as well as research and development, and increase the results of the transformation efforts. Through the discovery of artemisinin case and handmade paper contrast, put forward the concept of "non-left" science and its two models.At the spiritual level, the papermaker should be a modern man with a professional will and freedom so as to comprehensive development. Handmade paper from the "frontier technology" to the "cultural heritage" at this time, from the front of the technology - cultural axis "drift" to the back, can be used as a rare marker contrast the entire national culture changes. In addition, the understanding of the handmade paper industry, the beauty of the artistic conception and the state of mind, advocated in-depth excavation to refine its aesthetic value.3, on the Chinese handmade paper culture and philosophyThe invention and evolution of handmade paper reflect the value rationality of different times. The paper points out that Cai Lun's paper has its historical contingency, which reflects the strongness of imperial power, and this contingency promotes the development of ancient social culture objectively and even forms the fault and discontinuity with the previous papermaking history. And reflects the modern mechanization of the production of "mechanism paper" appears, it is another history of papermaking break, embodies the capitalist right to speak. In the postmodern consumerist society, handmade paper more means post-industrialized cultural space and cultural consumption scenarios.Handmade papermaking techniques reflect the traditional Chinese creation ideas,the law of nature, the path of subtle, all things in one. Pick up the intangible cultural heritage represented by handmade papermaking, evoke cultural memory and help to reconcile the social system and the living world and overcome the "colonization of the living world". At last, we put forward the cultural viewpoint of "Ru and Chuang" with the combination of media and life value theory.
