Intangible cultural heritage is an important part of societal and community well-being.Intangible cultural heritage causes the historic area to sustain its cultural diversity and to be alive in the urban space.Intangible cultural heritage contributes to community and cultural identity and helps “to define the character of a place?.Furthermore,intangible heritage becomes a catalyst for innovation and development in a historic area,no matter on the technology or on the society.On the contrary,historic cultural blocks have unique ability to preserve intangible culture heritage because it can provide a theater to enact a script,both remembered and imagined,of traditional living and can involve interaction of traditional living.Indeed,the unique urban cultural ecosystem of historic cultural blocks can be seen as a kind of intangible heritage.Accordingly,Intangible Cultural heritage has a close relationship with the development of historic cultural blocks.Historic cultural blocks regeneration usually has been considered as a primary and powerful solution to prevent historic area from declining.In regeneration,too much attention is paid to the tangible cultural heritage,historic scene,infrastructure,and so on.However,intangible cultural heritage can not be considered fully with a lack of methods and theories.As an important part of historical cultural heritage,intangible cultural heritage is significant and can promote forming charicteristic and sustainable development of historic cultural blocks to some extent.Accordingly,it is necessary to study how to preserve,inherit and promote the development of historic cultural blocks in the view of intangible culture heritage protection.The work has three phases:Firstly,using the anthropology method known as observation and interviews and the field investigation method,the close study on the three cities in Jiangsu province is made,that are Suzhou,Yangzhou and Zhenjiang.Through the study of the situation of intangible culture heritage in the historic cultural blocks,the influencing factors are analyzed.On the basis of the study,the functions of intangible cultural heritage and the mechanism in the process are studied intensively.Through a greater understanding of laws of intangible cultural heritage in historic cultural blocks,suggestions are proposed to improve the sound development of historic cultural blocks.Secondly,the problems about the architectural spaces related to intangible culture heritages in historic cultural blocks are investigated.The four theories are proposed that are ?Shell theory?,?Force theory?,?Root theory? and ?shape theory?.O n the basis of the four theories,the four analysis method are presented for architectural spaces related to intangible culture heritages in historic cultural blocks: ?Q uantity? analysis methodThe quantity and proportion of architectural spaces related to intangible culture heritage,the type of intangible culture heritages in these architectural spaces,the functions of these architectural spaces and remains;?Zoning? analysis method-allocation plan of architectural spaces related to intangible culture heritages and remains in historic cultural blocks,?Shaping? analysis method-the special structure of architectural spaces related to intangible culture heritages and remains,?Q ualitative? analysis method-the relationship between space and elements of intangible culture heritages and remains.At last,on the basis of objective dates and subjective perception from the people investigated,the principles of these architectural spaces related to intangible culture heritage are made clarified and the controlling principles and five methods are proposed.These five controlling methods are ?Quantity? method,?Zoning? method,?Shaping? method,?Qualitative? method and multidimensional dynamic wavelet analysis as a comprehensive way to analysis and control.Then the results of the research could contribute to the cultural ecosystem and the sustainable development of historic cultural blocks.
