With the continuous development of economic technology, there are more and more super high-rise buildings in China.Especially in recent years, super high-rise buildings develop quickly and emerge in various large and medium-sized cities in forms of super high-rise complexes. With huge space expanding ability and function-integrating ability, super high-rise complexes are quite popular. As China has a large population and intense land resources at present, super high-rise complexes are an inevitable trend for the development of modern cities. However, the architectural features of super high-rise complexes(such as high buildings, many residents inside, complicated structure and diverse traffic systems)increase the fire risk of the buildings and their surrounding urban space.Under the current fire rescue level in China, once there is a fire in a super high-rise complex,it is difficult to estimate the injury and dead people, the financial loss and the traffic impacts, which will be definitely quite serious.Though there are regulations on the limit values of fireproofing design in super high-rise complexes in current codes for protection design of buildings and relevant technological clauses in China, they are still too lagging and limited due to the special extreme requirements in structure, function, modeling and space forms of the constantly-updated super high-rise complexes. Therefore,it is difficult to guarantee the fire safety of super high-rise complexes with present regulations. Moreover, for some building space, there are even no corresponding regulations.Based on the above problems, the performance-based fireproof method is proposed. This method can simulate the specific fire process of a certain project.By mainly stimulating the rules of smoke spreading and personnel evacuating,it can formulate fireproof design schemes especially for different buildings.Hence, the performance-based fireproof method not only compensates the shortcomings and limitations of current regulations, but also improves the fireproof performance of buildings and facilitates the development of new technologies. The paper is divided into 9 chapters.Chapter 1 and chapter 2 introduce the background and significance.Chapter 3 integrates the spatial elements of the high-rise complex and deficiencies of the current fire regulations,as well as refines five typical spaces of the high-rise complex, including vertical connection space, super horizontal open space, horizontal narrow space, underground space and out space.Additionally,it also analyzes the fire hazard of each typical space.Chapter 4 to chapter 8 contains the core content in the perspective of architecture and urban planning, adopting computer technology to make comparative simulation experiment of smoke spreading and personnel evacuation in the fire scene in the five typical spaces of high-rise complex.Furthermore,it also conducts the safety assessment of performance-based fire prevention design in terms of the “non-normative” scheme, and makes optimization of the design proposal within the frame of clausal specifications.Chapter 9 includes the conclusion and prospect.Different from traditional fireproof design,performance-based fireproof method focuses more on the rules of smoke spreading and personnel evacuating so as to formulate targeted fireproof design schemes. With the research means of simulation by digital technology, this paper attempts to explore the optimized fireproof strategies for different space types of super high-rise complexes so as to provide more powerful guarantee for the effective implementation of fireproof schemes for super high-rise complexes and their surrounding urban space.
