Since the reform and opening, our country market economy developing rapidly,various types of commercial buildings have sprung up in large numbers. However,while people in the enjoyment of efficient and convenient shopping and entertainment,the disaster has been greatly increased by the characteristics of commercial complexbuilding and it’s group, such as large size, diversity, multi-functions, complicated flowline, and multi-bridging with city in many levels, etc, especially one of the mostdisaster prone in urban and building–risk of fire.Traditional fire safety design of building is based on the “regulations”, whichcan’t meet the design needs of some modern commercial complex with fastdeveloping. There has to be some more targeted, advanced, economical, reasonableand effective performance fire protection design of architectural and planning, whenthe structural, functional, modeling, and other aspects of the special requirements arenot defined or fit in current national fire technology, or it’s really difficult to designaccording to national fire technology codes. At the same time, the outstandingadvantages of performance-based fire design methods, in the fire evacuationsimulation, will also be applied to optimize the planning and architectural design inthe framework of fire protection "regulations". Thus it can be seen, it is verysignificant to do research on the performance-based fire safety design of largecommercial complex, and use the methods to adjust and optimize the design ofplanning and architectural in order to prevent and mitigate the fire hazard.This thesis is divided into ten chapters, which has introduced the background andsignificance of research, the current research status of commercial complexperformance-based fire at home and abroad, the composite elements and risk of fire,the fire mechanism of building and parameters of performance-based fire design, theoptimization measures in typical space of five categories commercial complex, andthe conclusions and prospects come at the end.The core of this paper is to combine the fire hazard features with the spatialcharacteristics of commercial complex and the three key indicators of fire protectiondesign (fireproofing district, evacuation distance, evacuation width), refined thetypical space of commercial complex in five categories: intensive space, vertical through space, large horizontal open space, narrow passageway space andunderground space, evaluated the “super standard” design for performance-based firesafety with computer technology and optimized the design methods in the frameworkof “regulations” from the perspective of architecture and urban planning.Performance-based fire safety design strategy as a design idea of fireproofing,even of the whole life of architecting and planning design process, has preliminarilydemonstrated application areas for our bright future. The thesis is aimed at improveand develop digital technology of performance-based fire design methods, in order toprovide more effective protection of architecture and urban fire safety.
