| Researches on urban landscape have been a hotspot in the studies on developments and constructions of cites. The perception of elements in the urban environments and activities enables researchers to form their certain understanding of the urban landscape. As streetscapes are important elements in urban landscape, the study of streetscape became an important theme of urban landscape and spatial form. This paper employs psychophysical methods to explore approaches of evaluating visual landscapes. The contents and innovations of this paper include:(1)Proposition of objective metrics and approaches of landscape visual attributesCombining with streetscape and the basic law of the visual process, the author proposes seven landscape visual quality metrics that can reflect visual quality of pedestrian streetscape, represent each aspects include the visual unity, complexity, color characteristics, skyline changes, openness, street horizontal scale, vertical scale of street space. And then the author obtain subjective visual evaluation based on the SD(Semantic Differential)method and statistical analysis. The relationships between the objective metrics and subjective visual evaluation show that their vilidity was verified.(2)A further studies of curve fitting show that there is a significant logarithmic relationship between the objective metrics(including visual entropy, color index, openness index, scale of horizontal and vertical)by means of street view of 28 representative walkingl streetscapes in China. There is a significant linear relationship between the difference index and visual unity. These relationship are according classical theory of psychophysics.Proposed streetscape design strategies from view of improving streets scenic.(3)Proposed theory fiame and mathematical model of walking landscape visual impact assessment based on psychophysical methods. |
