Objective?The traditional view is that diaphoresis is the first of 8 Chinese medicine treatments, which means to relieve exterior syndrome through sweating out. Epidemic disease is a general term of acute, highly infectious diseases. It is called "yili", "shixing", "tianxing", and "wenyi" in ancient Chinese.The name of "Epidemic disease" is already diversified in the early classical document of Chinese medicine, such as "yi", "li", "wenyi", "shanghan", "shiqi", which are used by later doctors.It spreads rapidly, infectious strongly and has serious illness and high mortality. It has great influence on the society and has been the main content of prevention and treatment of epidemic disease. Chinese medicine has a profound theoretical basis ondiaphoresis, but also has a more extensive clinical experience. The purpose of this study is to explore the general rule of diaphoresisof Traditional Chinese medicine in treating the disease (i.e., acute infectious diseases), and provide references for the prevention and treatment of epidemic disease in the modern society..Content and method:This study under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine theory, by collecting and analyzing related literature, made a summary on the ancient literature on diaphoresis to treat epidemic disease. First of all, this paper summarizes the literature from the following perspective:the origin of epidemic disease, the formation of plague school, the formation of seasonal febrile disease school, the Ming and Qing Dynasty different doctors of disease understanding, ancient epidemic disease situation and awareness of traditional Chinese medicine between Qin and Han Dynasty and Ming and Qing Dynasty. This paper also discussed the pathogenesis of epidemic disease. Secondly, this paper summed up the characteristics of diaphoresis of ancient doctors of all dynasties. The main clue of this study is the "Treatise on Febrile Diseases" by Zhang Zhongjing of Qin and Han Dynasty, and the "Treatise on pestilence" by Wu Youxing of Ming and Qing Dynasty. It discussed the difference of the application of diaphoresis between Typhoid school and school of seasonal febrile disease; and summarized principle of treatment of school of seasonal febrile disease, the origins, patterns and characteristic of various epidemic disease. At last, this paper summed up the different characteristic of using diaphoresis treatment by doctors from different dynasties and schools, and analyzed diaphoresis treating indications and contraindications. Through the above study, this paper discussed the general rule and application of diaphoresis to treat epidemic disease of traditional Chinese medicine.Results?Diaphoresis applies to the early stage of the disease, and Typhoid school uses diaphoresis stage of exterior syndrome. Compare of diaphoresis and purgative method, diaphoresis has a better clinical effect and a lower side-effect.Conclusion?Diaphoresis is suitable for the treatment of epidemic disease at the stage of exterior syndrome, and has the characteristics of good efficacy and minor side effects.
