On Hu Jintao's Ethical Thought

Hu Jintao's era focuses on the multifaceted systematic problems of China. Facing a series of problems of high risk of rapid economic growth, in this era, under Hu Jintao's leadership, China has smoothly realized its own transformation, maintaining steady and fast economic development, in the meanwhile, China has integrated the international community with style of great power which makes the people all around the world admire. This paper holds that such a smooth transformation of Chinese society is closed with the ethical characteristics of Hu Jintao's adhering to the People-oriented, the Scientific Outlook on Development, Eight Honors and Eight Disgraces, vigorously promoting the Socialist Core Values, and style of governing. Therefore, the paper demonstrates the ethical qualities of Hu's style of governing thought through his economic ethics, political ethics, social ethics and ecological ethics investigation.How to deal with the problem between efficiency and equity is the core problem to Hu's economic ethics. Chairman Hu pays great attention to combine the efficiency of market with the fairness of government, and changes enormous inequality of secondary allocation of national economy by promoting justice to provide a solution to Chinese rapid economic growth. With the help of positive interaction of the social forces, Hu strives for dynamic balance between efficiency and equity by achieving effective integration of social relations on the basis of social equity. Such a way dealing with the problem between efficiency and equity, which actually gives an expression to Hu's thought aiming at the ultimate goal of Chinese economic development, that is to say, how to evaluate it and how to guide it when in the face of major socio-economic changes. To live with dignity and happiness, Chairman Hu responds to the people. The problem of dignity and happiness appears at the gap between rich and poor in the economic conditions. For this reason, Hu settles the problem of happiness and dignity for Chinese citizens, according to the dignity which is not allowed to take away from people themselves in the poor economic situation. But actually this poverty is, that is, loss of dignity, not only derived from material beggarliness for non-balanced share of economic developing achievement, but also more of the poverty of power and spirit, in other words, the poverty of economic rights and spiritual home. As a result, for Chinese citizens, looking forward to a greater dignity and happier life, the most fundamental way is to obtain equal power in economic conditions. However, economic rights are closely related with the political discourse in special Chinese conditions, we might even say, the latter is the foundation for the former. For this reason, Chairman Hu devotes himself to providing institutional guarantee for the affirmation and realization of basic rights for citizens in political field. His efforts in this direction is particularly reflected in human rights, which shifting from political issue to legal matter in China, and legal right to moral right, and focuses on the governance of the problem of administrative corruption, strives to afford the entitlements in the level of system to ensure that people can live a happy life and live with dignity.Dealing with the problem of equity and efficiency, human rights shifting from politics to moral rights, and the governance of administrative corruption, If Hu provides systematic environment both in terms of economy and politics for people's happy life and dignity more from a government perspective, then the problem of social responsibilities and the construction of harmonious society in the rapid development of the national economy, a steady and easy social environment, which Chairman Hu tries hard to create for people's happy life and dignity in a society of rich-poor divide. In this respect, how to make Chinese people walk in peace and harmony upon the balancing interests, according to economic indicators, and build a well-off society in an all-round way, generally attaining a comfortable standard of living in our national economy, turns out to be the core problem of Hu's thought. For this, he put his heart and soul into construction of responsible government to urge the government takes political responsibility in society, strengthening responsibility consciousness of enterprises for the especial purpose of the social responsibility of wealth, strengthening construction of professional ethics education and social morality for citizens, and the idea of harmonious society comes out to be a strategic goal of Chinese development process. Hu also sets up the value orientation for the socialism development with Chinese characteristics with harmonious idea, and formulates the keynote for different groups and individuals in Chinese society by "harmonious labor relations" and "the harmonious relationship between people". At the same time, on the basis of economic development, resources and environment, harmony between human being and the nature, Chairman Hu not only affords realistic guarantee to people's happy life and dignity in terms of economy, politics and society, but also build a new ecological civilization by the right to existence and the right to development of the rapid development of our economy, offering citizens a predictably stable expectation, let everyone lead a happy life with dignity.The economic ethics, political ethics, social ethics and ecological ethics of Hu Jintao always care about one's own happiness and interests, social equity and justice. Using the realization of social equity and justice and people's happy life with dignity as a yardstick, we may say that, to solve accumulated problems derived from the rapid development of our economy, which has become the essential characteristics of Hu's governing ethics. Under the global economy integrative in history condition, Confucian political ethics integrative has always given prominence to persistent self-improvement which gives an expression to this kind of ethical characteristic. Under Chairman Hu's leadership, China is seeking its own development space and promoting the development of a stable and peace of society with cosmopolitan tolerant attitude and a universal moral principle, and is expressing its desire to permanent peace to the international community at most sincere attitude with the idea of a harmonious world.
