The research on single spread of the Book of Rites is not only a weak link at the present academic research area, but also a particular field that worths a further study. The Book of Rites has forty-six articles, twenty-three articles of which singly spread after Han Dynasty. Because of the single spread of The Book of Rites, there exists many obvious differences in the times that appear, quantities, remains and disappearance. Therefore, this paper selects Tan Gong, Wang Zhi, Yue Ling, Shen Yi and Tou Hu as the subjects to study. Through the methods of literature, academic history and intellectual history, this paper not only attaches importance to textual research, but also pays attention to the further research of the reasons of the Book of Rites's single spread in the view of intellectual history and academic history.This article includes four parts which are foreword, main body, epilogue and appendix.Foreword introduces the conception of single spread of the Book of Rites, research status, research significance and research methods.Main body contains five chapters.The first chapter studies on single spread phenomena of Tan Gong, researching on the types, reasons and values of single spread of Tan Gong. The paper finds out that Tan Gong heritages of traditional funeral rituals and maintains the discipline of Confucian ethics, which play more important role in promoting the Chinese traditional culture of filial piety and ensuring the country's political stability, which are the main reasons for single spread of Tan Gong. Furthermore, from the single spread texts of Tang Gong, this paper finds out the locus of Confucian classic texts conversing to literary texts and articlology template.The second chapter studies on single spread phenomena of Wang Zhi. Through combing the single spread phenomenon of Wang Zhi, the paper finds out that there are many single spread works appearing in the Qing Dynasty, which are closely connected with politics and provides a theoretical and spiritual support for political reform movement in the Qing Dynasty.The third chapter studies on single spread phenomena of Yue Ling. By combing and investigating the single spread phenomena of Yue Ling, this paper finds out that the patterns of four seasons constitute the foundation of the Chinese ideology and culture, and the sense of time has a profound effect on Chinese traditional agricultural production, political life, inner world and mankind's secular life, which becomes a supreme law of nature and embodies the Confucian's concept of time.The fourth chapter studies on single spread phenomena of Shen Yi. By combing and investigating the reasons, values and single spread phenomena of Shen K, this paper finds out that its meaning is no longer confined to the scope of costumes, which become the cultural symbol of Chinese nation who pay attention to moral etiquette and confucian virtues.The fifth chapter studies on single spread phenomena of Tou Hu. By combing the single spread phenomenon, this paper finds out that the ancients attach great importance to the etiquette, even in leisure activities.Epilogue discusses the reasons and values of single spread of the Book of Rites phenomena and proves its prominent position in academic history and ideological history.There are two appendices which paly an important role in this paper, one of which is single spread works of other titles, the other is the current research status of the Book of Rites in nearly four decades.
