A Study On The Constructions Of Subjective Quantity In Chinese

In the perspective of Subjectivity Theory and Construction Grammar, quantity category is no longer limited to the pure quantitative relations and quantity expressions which take number as a reference. The subjectivity of language has become a consensus. Subjective quantity is the concrete embodiment of subjectivity in the quantity category. Subjective quantity construction is a kind of grammatical means to express subjective quantity, which not only has its own characteristics, but also set the pronunciation, vocabulary other representation methods in one. Subjective quantity construction is a kind of special expression. This subject analyzed construction expression of quantity category in Chinese and made comprehensive description in terms of the classification. This paper introduces the characteristic of each type of subjective quantity construction. According to the amount of subjective quantity, we discuss three kinds of subjective quantity construction, including subjective large quantity constructions, subjective small quantity constructions and subjective equivalent constructions. We make a comprehensive analysis of each subclass of each class. This paper discussed the subjectivity and subjective of subjective quantity constructions in Chinese from the point of view of cognitive besides traditionally analyzing the constitutions, syntactic functions and pragmatic functions and soon.There are five parts in this paper. The first part is introduction, which stretched out significance and origin of the subject meaning, and stated status and shortcomings of related research. We cleared research perspectives of this subject and defined the subjective quantity and constructions. Then the characteristics, function and classification of the subjective quantity constructions were analyzed in this part. The second part described and analyzed subjective large quantity constructions. This section mainly described and analyzed subjective large quantity constructions marked by the numberals, adverbs and pronouns labeled, tendency verbs and the ones which includes comparative construction.The third secion described and analyzed subjective small quantity constructions. We analyzed and defined the subjective small construction first. Then this section introduced and discussed subjective small construction constituted by the number structure Yi Ge(??), comparative construction, and the ones highlighted by negation. Finally, we introduced an emerging expression "Xiao(?)+predicative X ".The forth part described and analyzed subjective equivalent constructions. Equivalent expression can hardly do without comparation.Constructions can express subjective equivalent information through forward contrast and reverse contrast. Forward contrast is positive contrast, mainly including "X Xiang(?)/Gen(?)/He(?)/Yu(?)/Tong(?)Y Yiyang(??)(W)","X You"(?)Y Name(??)W","(X)He(?)/Gen(?)Y Cha Bu duo(???)(W)" in Chinese. Reverse comparison is negative contrast"Bu bi"(??)",the subjectiVity of construction"X Bu bi"(??)YW"is stronger than the positive contrast.Conclusion part made introspection of the full text and summarized the full text.
