In the later period of 1990s, internet appeared in China, it has been developed quickly and widely applied in such fields as politics, economy, culture and society. The main traditional religions and new religions also grasped the opportunity, sufficiently utilized the marked advantages of internet including rapidness, convenience and low cost, promoted the religious changes on such aspects as propagation means and organization mode, network religion formed. Network religion has dual functions:the active function is to push the quick propagation of religion, provide convenience for religious organization and believers to carry out religious activities; the negative function is embodied on the impact caused by illegal network religion activities to religious safety, political safety, social safety and cultural safety.On basis of the above development situations of network religion, with Marxist religious view and national safety view as a guide, by applying the relevant theoretical knowledge of religious studies, propagation science and politics, in combination with the policies of the Communist Party of China and the country in such fields as religious affairs management, internet supervision and news propaganda, the paper carried out a study on the safety of network religion, including 4 parts.Part 1 mainly describes the present situations. Firstly, with the dual effects of internet on religion as a pointcut, by the case that Longquan Temple became the temple with the most powerful internet thought, the active role plaved by internet in religious development was analvzed; with such cases that religion was utilized for network fraud and a heresy operated by internet, the serious social harm caused by illegal network religion activities was analyzed; secondly, the present development of network religion was narrated. The main media via which region realizes network propagation and development include religious website, Blog space, virtual community (forum), realtime communication group, virtual church, etc.; the propagation contents of network religion are quite broad, concretely including religious doctrine and sutra, news and information in the field of religion, religious activities including ceremony, information and announcement of offline activities, religious knowledge, understanding and discussion on religious activities, etc. thirdly, analyzing the new development features of network religion, including the propagation real-timeness of religious information, virtuality of religious organization and activities and supervision difficulty of religious information and activities.Part 2 emphasizes theoretical discussion. In combination with the present actual development of network religion, the relevant theories were applied to elucidate religious safety in detail. Firstly, digitalized destruction of the safety of religion itself, including:diversified harmonious religious ecological environment is impacted, the thought and culture of the main religions propagate in chaos, distinguishment difficulty of the identity of online religion, virtual religious places intermingling with different levels; secondly, decentralization of political safety, main embodiments:information power further impacts religious sovereignty, the controlling figure of the traditional religion is weakened under the scattering propagation power, the network mobilization lever function realizes "small endeavor of the majority " in religious political mobilization, differentiation of mainstream ideology under the control of flowabilitv:thirdlv. social safety encounters the impact of liberalization. main embodiments:the "Tyranny of the majority in network " greatly disturbs social psychology, the "Butterfly effect" of public opinion increases the probability of social risk involving religious factors, the "Network opinion leader" intensifies religious social control function, the multi-subject for "Agenda setting" increases the difficulty of harnessing religious social conflict; fourthly, cultural safety encounters power impact, which is embodied as follows:the negative effect of religious cultural value is amplified, the effect of the traditional religious culture in China is weakened, the network supremacy of the western religious culture forms, the innovation ability of the religious culture in China becomes weak.Part 3 mainly analyzes the reasons. Firstly, the Chinese religious development faces new challenges, including the quick development of internet, actual change of the regional pattern in China, rising and dispersion of religious extremism and terrorism in the scope of world, the hostile forces utilizing internet to carry out religious infiltration, etc.; secondly, defects existing in the religious affairs management of China, including insufficient internet sense, existing vacuum space, imperfect laws and systems, insufficient team, etc.; thirdly, defects existing in the development of internet of China, including wrong internet supervision thought, backward technological conditions on supervision, imperfect supervision laws and systems.Part 4 stresses the mechanism establishment. Aiming at safeguarding the national safety and pushing the healthy development of network religion, from two levels including domestic and international and two fields including online and offline, the part raised the relevant countermeasures and suggestions on the prevention and solution of national safety of network religion. Firstly, raising the main working principles of network religion, including jointly adhering to Marxist religious view and network safety view, adhering to the direction of Chinization, following the laws of religion and religious work; adhering to "Guide", firmly grasping the initiative of religious work; secondly, raising to establish the dominant right on network utterance of religion, including reform and innovation, building a network battle position for religious propagation; stressing technology firstly, lifting information safety assurance ability; emphasizing talents, establishing a specialized network team with high diathesis; comprehensively coordinating to establish a multi-organ linkage fathering mechanism; applying system assurance, lifting the legalization level of religious harnessing; thirdly, boycotting and striking religious infiltration in network, including mainly boycotting the religious infiltration of the western hostile forces, jointly striking network terrorism and religious extremism, strengthening international religious dialogue and communication; fourthly, solving actual religious matters, including practically assuring the legal equities of religious believers, properly treating sudden incidents in religious field, practically solving the livelihood issues of religious believers.All in all, for network religion, we shall take Chinization as the large direction, actively guiding religion to adapt to socialist society as the main objective, utilize its merits and extinguish its shortcomings, explore effective harnessing path and measures, under the premises of not threatening the Chinese religious safety, political safety, social safety and cultural safety, unceasingly promote the healthy and orderly development of network religion.
