The Hui nationality is a minority born in China,whose gene comes from Arabian peninsula of West Asia,but grows up within Han's culture.The unique generating mode shapes the distinct spirit,character and culture of Hui nationality.The most prominent feature of Hui's culture is its religiousness,since it has been being effected by Islamic-Arabic,embodying Islamic conservative and profound religious characteristic.As Hegel believed,the highest stage of art is directly associated with religion,and religion often use art to make us feel the truth of religion better,the Hui's art form and style emerged in response to the sinicization of Islamism,perfectly interprets the miracle fusion of the world's two biggest culture.Among the remarkable achievements of Hui's art forms,the architectural art,both practical and beautiful,enriches Hui's cultural structure and becomes a main channal through which Hui's culture could be comprehend by others.The Hui's architecture is constantly created and enriched during the growth and development of Hui nationality,which is a combination of Islamic culture and Chinese culture,a historical evidence of the formation of Hui nationality and a symbol of Hui's culture.The study of Hui's architecture is both a the most direct way to comprehend Hui's culture and a shortcut to explore Islamic culture.As a constituent part of Hui's culture,the mosque is the core of Hui,s architectural art,and the spirit symbol of Hui nationality.The mosque accompanies the development of Islam and the lifetime of every Hui people,becoming their spiritual home and emotional ascription,therefore becomes the concentrated reflection of Hui's history,character and aesthetic tendency,as well as the best propaganda method.On account of the study of mosque is conducive to popularize Hui's national culture,this paper takes mosque as the object of study,hoping to further demonstrate Hui's aesthetic culture by researching and analysing the mosque.This paper is divided into six parts altogether.The preface part takes a review on the existing research results at home and abroad.The study of Hui's aestheticalculture is full of complexity,because of the simultaneous existance of Islamic culture and Han's culture,two cultures with huge differences,in Hui's culture.This very complexity results in the aesthetic study on Hui's culture makes little breakthrough in recent years.Based on this,here comes the research significance and the proposed goal of this paper,and research methods this paper used.The introductional first chapter carries a brief account of the historical changes of Hui's society and culture,emphasizes the duality of Hui's culture by integrally sorting Hui's religion and philosophy,and discusses the major functions,which are closely linked to its aesthetic features,of mosque in Hui's social culture.The second part analyses the histrocal evolution of mosque,and introduces its each features and living examples in Tang,Song,Yuan,Ming,Qing dynasties.The comprehensive analysis on architectural feature has considered its temporal historical,social,cultural environments,such as the change of mosque's social functions in different political contexts and the influences of Chinese architectural styles.The investigation on living examples collects and sorts mosques from different historial periods,and filtrates several representative mosques to discribe and analyse combined with related literatures.The thrid and forth chapter is the core content of this paper,takes a deep and full investigation on the external structural form and internal decoration,exploring Hui's aesthetic psychology,verifying Hui's world outlook and philosophy of external Han's culture and internal Islamic culture.The thrid chapter focuses on the external structural form of mosque,firstly analyse the individual building of mosque one by one from the angles of both religious aesthetics and spatial aesthetics,combined with specific cultural function.During the exploring on the mosque's spatial aesthetic implications,the mosque is divided into external and internal spaces to respectively conduct detail analysis,and elaborate the mosque's structural unification of limitedness and limitiessness further more.The forth chapter focuses on the internal decorative arts,analyse the decorative colors,patterns and crafts in detail.These internal docorative arts not only express obvious Islamic religious style and Arabic exotic style,but also fuse lots of features of Han's national arts.These three tendencies of arts become the most important feature of Hui's decorative arts.The epilogue part of this paper makes a summary and expresses the worry and hope on the mosque.This paper starts from the development and evolution of mosque to that of Hui's culture,aiming at discussing the responsibility and future of the Hui people,expecting the aesthetic culture of Hui be well perceived and accepted by the public.
