Chinese And Vietnamese Four Words Idioms Contrast Research

Comparison is the basic method of mankind to understand, recognize and research the objective world; moreover, it is also one of the main researching methods in linguistics. Lu Shuxiang, a famous Chinese scholar mentioned: "Comparison is the only way to discover the similarities and specialities of languages." The reality has shown that comparing two languages can deepen our understanding of those languages and increase the efficiency of linguistic research. Actually, comparative linguistics plays a significant role in teaching foreign languages, translating as well as compiling bilingual dictionaries.Based on the theory of comparative linguistics mentioned by scholar Xu Yulong, this research compared Chinese and Vietnamese four-character idioms for & further understanding of Chinese and Vietnamse four-character idioms in terms of basic features and types of phonetic,grammatical and semantic structures.The results can be applied in teaching and researching Chinese language.During the reasearch process, we took advantages of some achievements of the previous researches on Chinese and Vietnamese idioms. On the basis of quantitative comparative analysis, we compared the similarities and differences bewteen the types of 4005 Chinese four-character idioms and 3500 Vietnamese four-character idioms. Researching achievements are as follows:1.Reaffirms the value orientation of the four character idioms in the language system.According to the study of the number of syllables in the four character idioms in Chinese and Vietnamese Chinese four character idioms account for 96.5% of the total number of idioms,Vietnamese four character idioms account for 74.2%. As the main part of Chinese idioms, four syllables not only a form that loved by people, but also hot discussion topic for language researcher.2. The definition of idioms in Chinese and Vietnamese Linguistics, source, basic standard of cognition, on the definition of bilingual idioms, source and comparison of types and standard, point out every language's special point.In specific, the formation of Chinese and Vietnamese idioms are different, different type of writing, different source of main ways, component of idioms and standard meaning of idioms are different.3. From different point of view discuss Chinese and Vietnamese form of idioms, application,history, national characteristics, in order to give lead to more proof analysis of these two language's characteristics, And reveals the fundamental differences between Chinese and Vietnamese four character idioms on the basic characteristics of the basic type.4. From Xu YuLong's basic theory of comparison, comparison Chinese and Vietnamese on component of pronunciation, component of grammar and semantic meaning, and reveals the special features of the four character idioms in Chinese and Vietnamese from statistical data. Vietnamese is completely different,modified form of idioms only 78 pieces of idioms only 2.2% in total of Chinese idioms.?-Difference in semantic meaningThe combination of the four types of semantic structure types of the semantic structure types of the more and more words is significantly lower than that of Chinese. The ratio is 12.5%, and Chinese is 19.3%.
