The Study On The Sui Dynasty Epitaph

After the founding of People's Republic of China,with the development of farmland water conservancy construction and the archaeological booming,the epitaphs once buried underground gradually come to see daylight again.And the Sui Dynasty epitaph is one of them.The Sui Dynasty is the heyday of the development of epitaphs.The number of epitaphs is great and its content is rich.It is not only beneficial to study the history and culture before and after the Sui Dynasty,but also conducive to study the development of Chinese characters in this period.The epigraph characters in the Sui Dynasty were continued from the Northern and Southern Dynasties and then developed in Dang Dynasty,which inherited variant hazi in the earlier times and retained partial character forms.Meanwhile,the epigraph characters produced some new variant hazi,which not only provided characters for books such as Gan Lu Zi Shu and Jiu Jing Zi Yang etc,but supplemented rich illustrative examples for compilation of reference books such as Grand Chinese Dictionary etc.Therefore,researches on evolution of Chinese ancient character forms can not neglect epigraphs in the Sui Dynasty.This paper studies the glyph of the word in Sui Dynasty epitaph,shows the laws and characteristics of the development of the glyphs,reveals the relationship between the homoglyphs in the epitaph and the significance of the study,traces the source and contacts sound and meaning to verify and explain individual difficult words.It explores its inheritance and development on the pronunciation,and further elaborates the usage of Chinese characters in the period by the study of the pronunciation of the epitaph in the Sui Dynasty.This paper can be divided into three parts,including seven chapters.Chapter one is the introduction part.It makes a brief explanation of the purpose,research methods and article structure of the whole text,and sorts out the collation situation of the epitaph in the Sui Dynasty,and makes a literature review of its research status.In the second part,the second chapter and the third chapter classify and differentiate and analyze the variant Chinese characters in the epitaph of Sui Dynasty.Chapter four analyzes the homoglyphs in the epitaph of Sui Dynasty.It presents the classification methods of the homoglyphs in the epitaph of Sui Dynasty,verifying and explaining several groups of the homoglyphs.Chapter five studies the interchangeable words in the epitaph of Sui Dynasty.Chapter six interprets the difficult words in the epitaph of Sui Dynasty.It presents its own views on part of the words misinterpreted by the predecessors,combining with glyohs and examples in dictionaries.Chapter seven is the conclusion part.This paper conducted researches from the perspective of formation and usage of Chinese characters,summarized the research status,analyzed character change rules and made textural criticisms&explanations on difficulty characters.Due to limited text length,this paper was not involved with studies on change and development of calligraphy styles of epigraph characters in the Sui Dynasty.Further,studies on usage of epigraph characters in the Sui Dynasty shall be further carried out.This paper started an initial study on epigraph characters in the Sui Dynasty.If with any improper details,please feel free to propose your suggestions.
