Political Ritual And Sinicization Of Marxism

Nowadays,ritual which has internal connection with human’s thought is gradually being discovered and concerned in the field of Social Sciences.Therefore,political ritual plays an important role in the ideological work of political parties.When we explore the ideological and political work following the line of the CPC’s application of political ritual,we can rethink our working methods and ideas on how to promote Sinicization of Marxism and then summarize some useful experiences to guide future work.There have been many controversial views about the concept of the political ritual.Even so,to clarify the concept of political ritual is still a key to this study.By studying the concepts of some key words such as “ritual” and “politics” and then defining what political ritual is,we find that there is an inner link between political ritual and ideological work.In this paper,we put forward the structure and functional mechanism of political ritual.Sinicization of Marxism,in a certain sense,is the sinicization of Marxism ideology.Through the review of the historical development of the concept of ideology,we can find that the ritual has a different appearance in different stages.Ideology today is no longer something just in the realm of thought.It doesn’t just belong to a particular social class.And,it is not necessarily about the false and distorted ideas.Ideology is a common phenomenon in human society.It has been gradually promoted to a set of “consciousness-centered action strategy”.The aim of the overall action strategy is to make ideology rise from spontaneous to consciousness.And political ritual is the key link in this process.Marxism theory has its own Chinese style and temperament.Only in this way can Marxism be understood and mastered by the Chinese people.And then,the Chinese people would accept Marxism as their own belief,so as to guide their practice.Having analyzed a sample of the works of Marx and Engels,some view on political ritual can be found in the text.The view on political ritual is implicit in the framework of classical Marxism theory while it is highlighted in the system of Chinese traditional political culture.So,the utilization of ritual in the political field manifests the Chinese style and temperament.And,the utilization of ritual in the process of Sinicization of Marxism has its own logical necessity.This paper reviews how the Communist Party of China used political ritual in revolution and how political ritual played a role in propagandizing,educating,organizing and mobilizing the masses at different stages.The rituals which had been utilized by the Party in the period of revolution can be clarified into five types,such as “symbol-ritual”,“meeting-ritual”,“organization-ritual”,“commemoration”,and “utilization of Chinese traditional ritual forms”.The practice of the CPC’s utilization of political ritual showed distinctive features and completed the historical task at different stages between 1921 and 1949.It showed a natural historical process.In this process,the Party respected for its inherent law of development,combining the political art and technology,cultivating the political unconsciousness as well as political consciousness.Absolutely,the dialectical law of form is very important in the application of political ritual.This paper analyzes that experience of the Party at different stages and compared it with that of other political parties at the same time.And then,this paper puts forward some advice for the ideological and political work of the Party in the future.
