As the key link of talent cultivation in the context of college enrollment in general categories, major shunt connects early basic education to professional education in university. Major shunt in the context of college enrollment in general categories is a beneficial attempt to innovate talent cultivation. Since the late 1980 s, more and more colleges try it out. After years of reform and exploration, major shunt has made a lot of achievements. However, just like other new things, major shunt suffered a lot of disapproval as its problems appeared gradually. How do we treat it? What should we do facing its problems? Those questions relate to our attitude to it and subsequent actions. Now, how to respond to doubt and orient direction are the urgent issues of major shunt in the context of college enrollment in general categories.In view of such thought, this thesis observes actual major shunt practice with empirical research from a question-centered perspective and then orients future direction, which means to meet practical needs and supplement related research. For this purpose, this thesis studies along with the thought of "Theoretical discussion-Current situation survey-Difficulty analysis-Reform proposal" and from the perspective of "Student choice-College guide" to start an in-depth analysis.Specifically, this thesis consists of the following five main chapters.Chapter One is the introduction. This chapter mainly states the topic for discussion and its research reason and significance, clears the research space on the basic of literature review at home and abroad, and then discuses the research thought and method for the sake of logical map.Chapter Two is the theoretical discussion of major shunt in the context of college enrollment in general categories. This chapter defines five key words:college major, college enrollment in general categories, college major shunt, college major choice and guide in college major shunt guide. In the view of rational choice theory, inter-subjectivity theory and structural-functional theory, this chapter explains that major choice of students is both individual behavior and collective behavior which needs code of conduct, states that college and its students is not the relationship between subject and object but the co-relationship between subjects, discusses that major shunt system includes adaptation subsystem, goal attainment subsystem, integration subsystem and latency pattern maintenance subsystem, which is closely tied to talent cultivation in the context of college enrollment in general categories and major construction.Chapter Three is the current situation survey of major shunt in the context of college enrollment in general categories. This chapter has an insight into the colleges of Project 211 with view of the basic case presentation of major shunt which consists of areal distribution, college type, subject type and shunt type. Among them, there are whole-subject shunt, multi-subject shunt and single-subject shunt in our colleges. On the basic of those types, this chapter completes questionnaire and telephone interview in selected 19 major groups & experimental classes, and then views the results of major shunt, the influences of major choice and shunt with exploratory factor analysis, multiple linear regression and multiple logistic regression.Chapter Four is the difficulty analysis of major shunt in the context of college enrollment in general categories. The above survey results show that students have less information awareness and professional commitment in major shunt, colleges guide insufficiently in policy making and programs instruction for students' major choice also. This chapter attributes those troubles to the barriers in concept, system and surroundings of current major shunt.Chapter Five is the reform proposal of major shunt in the context of college enrollment in general categories. On the basic of above argument, this chapter suggests the fusion of student choice and college guide, the balance between instrumental rationality and value rationality, the orientation from selection to connection, the transition from self-government to shared governance. Inside, this chapter advises us to pay attention to policy making and programs guide, cultivate students' ability of major choice and set up a long-term mechanism for major shunt. Outside, this chapter calls for our effort directed towards curriculum system, management system and major construction.This thesis attempts to have some innovations in research perspective, field, methods and conclusion:Firstly, this thesis aims at combining student viewpoint with college viewpoint in the perspective of "Student choice-College guide", which is uncommon in related research. Secondly, in view of such a pretty practical issue and trial program, this thesis maps the current situation, concludes the difficulties and their reasons based on the survey in colleges of Project 211 and thus orients future direction, which means to meet practical needs and supplement related research. Thirdly, this thesis investigates the results of major shunt, the influences of major choice and shunt with EFA, multiple linear regression and multiple logistic regression based on the data from selected 19 major groups & experimental classes, which is a kind of innovation. Finally, this thesis comes to some interesting conclusions. For example, major shunt is a kind of co-relationship between students and colleges which are both subjects; There are whole-subject shunt, multi-subject shunt and single-subject shunt in our colleges; We should not only focus on students satisfaction of instant result in major shunt, but have their professional commitment in mind, that is to say, set up a long-term mechanism for college major shunt.
