Life is a continuously choosing process. Choosing what one wants to major is an essential right. Major choice is also a very important selection in life. Whether one can choose and major a proper major will impact one's whole life. Major choice is also the important issue of colleging. But to all actualities, Chinese system of major choice results in selecting on the foundation of one's mark of the entrance examination and the point one can be admitted into college, not selecting on the basis of one's interest. Further more, one has no method to remedy in college if one's interest doesn't match the major. So, this kind of system of major choice is superficial and stark. It will impact one's development and weaken the efficiency of colleging.The basis of dissertation is demonstration research on the status of major choice and study. The research shows students who love and know the major will study better than those who don't when they select major after the entrance examination. There is undoubted contrast between these two kinds of students. But the actual system of major choice can't make students select major on account of interest. Because the mark of entrance examination is the crucial reference when one selects major. If one finds the major doesn't match oneself, he has no method to change. So, this system is inefficient. Not only will it affect one's study and profession development, but also it's a waste of colleging.Why couldn't the system of major choice ensure students right of major choice? In nature, this problem couldn't be solved only by the college interior administration. The epigenous administration system and the policy of academic setting have a great impact on it. Centralization of management and planned economy inertia ignore the students' major choice. Students' major choice is void because there is no concrete policy to support. And the benefit of the three organizations which are students, teachers and classrooms or laboratories related with major conceals the right of students' academic choice. As far as the policy executed was concerned, the notion of supervisor in college that they see education as something given to students not students' right, minishes the right of major choice. They have no notion of students oriented and deem students having no ability to select. As time passes, students' consciousness and passion fade away.The aim of this paper is to bring forward some suggestions to insure students' right of major choice. For example, University governors should be students oriented. The policy of academic setting should be checked. It should make a policy of "major tendency", that means students have better test them tendency to match the majors, which can make sure students deeply knowing their interests. The collegiate enrollment system be change to admit students by classified recruitment not by major recruitment when students apply to universities. Colleging governors should combine the general education and professional education, which can make sure students have enough time to consider. When students enter into university, the governor should afford some policies such as changing majors, minor system and two-bachelor-degree system, which can supply a new chance to choose major.
