Cooperation And Conflict:Study On The Development Of Sino-US Trade Relations

Since the normalization of Sino-US relations,Sino-US trade relations have an unprecedented favorable environment.Sino-US trade has been rapid development and bilateral trade relations have been increasingly close.As prominently countries in the world economy,the healthy development of Sino-US trade relations has not only a huge role in promoting the economy of the two countries but also an important meaning of the normal operation of the world economy,trade and financial systems.Thus,the Study on Sino-US trade relations in detail not only being a useful complement to existing research but also providing some reference for China in dealing with Sino-US trade issues.This paper first analyzed the theoretical basis of Sino-US trade relations.Sino-US trade relations are an important part of Sino-US relations,but also subordinate to Sino-US relations,subordinate to their respective national strategy and external strategy.In particular,Sino-US trade relations have their historical complexity,institutional differences,national strategic conflicts,historical inertia of the two countries have impacts on the development of trade relations.Therefore,understanding the Sino-US trade relations should be not only based on the economic interests of the point of view,but also taking into account the non-economic factors on the impact of economic and trade relations between the two countries.So,this article not only analyzed the theory of international trade,but also explained the theory of international relations such as national interest theory,interdependence theory and international cooperation theory to provide the theoretical basis for the further analysis of Sino-US trade relations.This paper also analyzed the history and status quo of the development of Sino-US trade relations in order to clarify the history of contact with reality,in-depth understanding of the status quo of Sino-US trade relations.Then,points out the characteristics of Sino-US trade relationship development.Not to hide,today's Sino-US trade relations is with more "US-led" and the US government's policyadjustment of Sino-US trade relations has a key influence.Therefore,this chapter has analyzed the characteristics of coordination and interaction between the two countries trade policies base on summary of the evolution of US trade policy.It can be found that the interdependence of trade between the two countries is increasing with the deepening of economic and trade relations between China and the United States Through the analysis of the development history of Sino-US trade development relations.The reasons are not only economic globalization but also the result of the rapid development of bilateral trade.Then,pointed out that the interdependence of the two countries is an asymmetric interdependence.China's dependence on the United States is higher,which also makes the United States to get more "power" in Sino-US trade and often put pressure on China while China passive response.Finally,this chapter analyzed the relations of the interdependence and trade friction.The impact of the interdependence on trade friction has two sides.On one hand,it will increase the likelihood of conflict between the two countries and on the other hand it will limit the extent of the outbreak of trade friction due to the high cost of "quit" which make it be a cornerstone of maintaining stable development of bilateral trade relations.Interdependence of Sino-US trade constantly pushes forward the Sino-US trade relations.But increasing trade imbalances,trade friction intensified,the RMB exchange rate dispute continued,all of them have produced a great negative impact on the development of Sino-US trade relations with the increasingly close Sino-US trade relations.Imbalance of Sino-US is a result of many factors.Imbalance not only strengthening the uncertainty of Sino-US trade relations but also exacerbating the asymmetry of Sino-US trade relations and it is one of the main reasons of trade friction.The reasons of Sino-US trade friction is complex,including not only the economic factors,but also political reasons besides imbalance of Sino-US.It should b a rational view of Sino-US trade friction.Trade friction is the inevitable product of China's strength and it is not the mainstream of Sino-US trade relations.Against the censure of the United States on the RMB exchange rate,this chapter analyzed the dispute of the RMB exchange rate base on the exchange theory.Through the analysis of relationship between the RMB appreciation and Sino-US trade balance,find that the RMB exchange rate is not the main reason for the Sino-US trade imbalance and the reasons of United States forcing the RMB revaluation because ofnot only the economic interests but also far-reaching strategic objectives.Finally,this paper makes a judgment on the development prospect of Sino-US trade relations through the previous analysis.This paper pointed out that the obstacles of Sino-US trade is difficult to solve in the short term and common interests in Sino-US trade because of interdependence is increasing,which make Sino-US trade relations will continue to move forward with troubles.The Sino-US trade relations are most important part of China's foreign economic relations and it must be placed in a strategic perspective to deal with.The independence,peace and win-win should be strategic positioning of China.And then,the paper made suggestions to promote the development of Sino-US trade relations include enhancing mutual trust,reducing trade imbalance and properly handling trade frictions.
