Research On The Impact Of Industrial Agglomeration On Regional Economic Growth

Back to economic history,industrial agglomeration is a common phenomenon.From the agricultural age,to the industrial era,and to the current era of information technology,each era has a corresponding characteristics of industrial agglomeration.At present,against the background of the return of the western manufacturing industry and the re-industrialization,the domestic supply side of the structural reform and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei regional collaborative development strategy is on the implementation,manufacturing and producer services industry,developed in a collaborative way,has become a hot topic.Industrial agglomeration,as the spatial layout of industrial economy,the development of its structure and level has an important impact on economy,as a result,how to do a good job of Beijing-TianjinHebei industrial agglomeration is something we must pay attention to.The essence of industrial agglomeration is the interaction between economic factors and spatial elements,which means the study of industrial agglomeration should start from the two dimensions of industry and space.The research sequence of this paper is first to explore the time and space evolution of the industrial agglomeration in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,to the mechanism and effect of the industrial agglomeration in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,and further to explore the industrial re-agglomeration path in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.From the economic point of view,the industrial agglomeration and the endogenous growth of the economy have separate traditions;they did not combine with each other until the birth of the new economic geography,which made spatial factors chartered with industrial agglomeration representation first involved in the mainstream economic analysis framework.However,although the model assumptions of the new economics mainstream include constant returns to scale industry(agriculture)and increasing returns to scale industry(manufacturing industry),the key point of analysis lies in manufacturing industry,which means the coordination and structure of industrial agglomeration is not the main issue to explore.Based on the theory and reality,this paper focuses on the coexistence of manufacturing and producer services in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,and concentrates on the diversification of the productive service industry,emphasized on the analysis and empirical test of agglomeration mechanism and effect.On the basis of the existing theories and literatures,this paper has carried on some exploration and innovation in the following aspects:(1)Judging the economic development level and stage of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and discovering the economic development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region Time lag,and showing the tendency of radiation development from coastal areas to the inland areas.This conclusion shows that there is a certain industrial and spatial gradient in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.(2)The spatial pattern of industrial agglomeration in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region was measured by spatial statistics such as location entropy and standard deviation ellipse.The results showed that there was a typical "central-periphery" pattern in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.(3)Using the panel data of agglomeration and production service industry agglomeration in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,the results show that there is a negative correlation between manufacturing agglomeration and agglomeration of producer service industry,that is,manufacturing industry has the effect of extrusion towards productive service industry agglomeration,but the impact of producer services for manufacturing agglomeration is not significant.(4)Based on the empirical analysis of the industrial agglomeration,diversification and industrial structure of the Beijing-TianjinHebei region,the paper found out that the industrial agglomeration and diversification of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region have positive effects on the industrial structure upgrading.(5)Choosing the city scale as the threshold variable,through the panel threshold model,the economic growth effect of the industrial agglomeration in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is analyzed empirically.It is found that when the city is small,the industrial agglomeration can promote economic growth and diversification will inhibit economic growth;when the city is large,the industry will gather together to curb economic growth and the diversification of productive services within the industry will promote economic growth,from which the conclusion can be made that there is a significant threshold effect between industrial agglomeration and economic growth in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.Small-scale cities due to the short chain of internal industry,the demand for intermediate services provided by the producer services is small and single,so the diversification of productive services will inhibit the city's economic growth and small-scale cities need productive services to provide specialized intermediate goods,at this time within the city's industrial agglomeration will promote the city's economic growth.Large-scale cities and small-scale cities,the city's internal industry will gather together to curb economic growth.The reason mainly lies in productive services industry of large-scale cities,as regional central cities,has a strong radiation effect.Industrial synergies are mainly reflected in the regional level(i.e.,large-scale cities need to coordinate small-scale cities)rather than their urban level,the synergies within large-scale cities will inhibit their own economic growth.In addition,due to the large number of small-scale cities in the manufacturing sector,large-scale urban production services within the diversity of agglomeration will enhance the regional industry synergies effect,and thus promote economic growth.(6)This paper analyzes the impact of Beijing Tianjin Hebei Industrial Agglomeration on the growth of Beijing and Tianjin by means of SSM,and finds that both regional competitiveness and industrial structure are in a backward position compared to the Yangtze River delta.In the process of industry agglomeration in Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei,we should pay attention to enhance the competitiveness of regional agglomeration,and avoid the economic inefficiency caused by resource mismatches.This paper also puts forward the optimization measures of industry agglomeration including two innovations and three construction of industrial parks.
